I'm not trying to start another thread. Just thought you might find this a interesting read if you haven't run across it already.

I didn't realize our program had been handicapping itself for so long. Not taking advantage of such a valuable resource really ticks me off at former coaches. At the same time I not surprised.

That is pretty cool that our former players are enjoying the new policy and coming back. Thanks for the read

Particularly interesting in this piece is that two former defensive players quoted, Jerraud Powers and Senderrick Marks, didn't feel welcome at AU while their former DC was the HC.

Things that make you go...

I feel like i read the same thing when Chizik was hired. I remember them preaching about getting former players involved. Don't know what happened to that.

I remember Chizik allowing former players back on campus after the Tub Era.

I remember hearing that our basketball program has never really welcomed back former players and it seems that that has been a major emphasis of Pearl since he was hired

He had past players and coaches come to the announcement

I do too. Now, they may not have tried as hard at Gus is, but they definitely allowed it.

The guys I know that played for Dye have always said the exclusion started with Terry and continued with Tuberville. Chizik made a push his first year at Auburn to welcome back the former players but not so much after that season.

I always thought Tubs went a little too far in trying to "clean up" the program when he really ended up isolating everyone. What surprised me about Chizik was that these were guys that he coached while at Auburn? Why distance yourself from your own players

Lots of old Dye players were definitely not made to feel welcome while Tuberville and Bowden were coach as well.

Glad to see Gus's program is more welcoming than the three previous ones.
