He's selling it, no doubt. It will be interesting to see how he does without his Xs and Os guy, Jason Shay.

I'm sure he'll be fine, as Pearl will sell the program and recruit at an elite level. But the question remains, who is going to coach/scout?

One of the best in this league, but...

Go watch any Tennessee replay during the Pearl era, Shay was the guy drawing up the plays in the 4th quarter. He had a system in Knoxville, and I'm sure he'll try to replicate that at Auburn.

Shay was the "coach/scout."
Forbes was the "player getter."
Pearl was the "salesman."

I want to make it clear that I'm not bashing the hire at all, it was a grand slam, and Auburn will no doubt be a better program for it.

I would say average on Xs and Os. His recruiting and program building are top notch.

From where our program has been, even if he doesn't get Auburn to "elite" status, I'm still going to enjoy the fricking ride.
