Bama QB situation

Bammers, I come in peace.
What are y'all hearing about your Quaterback situation now that AJ is gone? Spring practice reports here at LSU sound a little shaky - one has good leadership/decision making but inconsistent accuracy, one is a true freshman with a cannon but isn't quite up to speed, and the other has a good arm and accuracy but doesn't seem to be getting much attention.
So how are things under center in T-town?

A pretty good summation.

Right now Alec Morris and Blake Sims are splitting first team reps. From what I've heard Morris has good leadership skills, but needs to work on touch with his passes. He often tries to gun them in and that causes a lot of WR drops. Blake Sims has always been a team player who does what is asked of him, but I doubt he has what it takes to be an SEC qb.
Cornwell has been exclusively throwing to the TEs and recovering from a torn ACL. Doubt he factors in to the qb battle this year.
I think everything is on hold until Coker comes in. We won't know the starter until a few games in IMO a la the McCarron/Simms battle.

Supposedly, Sima has made great strides since last season. We'll see.

Alabama will end up starting FSU's previous back up option.

one is a true team player and has the most experience, but probably doesnt fit the system
one has a big arm, good athleticism, but no real experience, and last year saban didnt even know his name. but supposedly he's taken on a leadership role
one is coming off an injury and has zero experience. but he's shown great intangibles and has a huge arm.
one is coming off a redshirt year and has really improved his strength, but has no real experience.
one comes from a strong georgia HS program and has a decent arm, but he has no soul.
and Coker is still enrolled at FSU

Coker - Not here yet, new and exciting toy. Needs to develop his footwork. Big arm and great athlete though. Dat footwork needs work, not sure how well he can get into a playbook or read coverages, need to see him play in an important situation first.
Sims - Stuck with Bama despite never finding a niche. Gotta love that. He's a team player. It isn't that he can't throw, it is all the things that happens before he throws that worries us. Good athlete, will probably see snaps in some way if he doesn't start. Taking first team reps right now.
Morris - Currently taking second team reps. Big arm, been on the team for a few years now. Made mental errors at A-Day last year, but looked the best throwing. Not as mobile as Coker/Bateman/Cornwell, but not a statue. Currently taking second team reps.
Bateman - Currently taking third team reps. Got up to 215 and it was all good muscle. Solid size, solid arm, has some mobility. Not much is known on him right now.
McLeod - Gets dumped on because he looks like a chess club player and not a QB, but really we all love him. Arm isn't that big, and you didn't see much in HS because he handed it off a lot. What you did see doesn't wow you, but he seems like a hard worker. Watching him throw, the ball doesn't really come out pretty, but that is coachable.
Cornwell - Probably gonna redshirt, Saban never plays True Freshmen at QB. He's got elite size at the position though. Still a little raw, but huge arm and he's mobile. I compare him to Andrew Luck physically, but still raw so he certainly isn't Luck when it comes to football IQ, but he probably has the most upside of any QB in the SEC. Doesn't mean he'll ever reach it, or come close.

I'm cheering for Sims because he's been such a team guy but I haven't seen anything out of him that leads me to believe he could run the kind of offense we've had the past 6 years

I like Sims too, but I'm just cheering for whoever gives us the best chance to be successful.

No offense to the Bama offense. But hasn't quarterback play been predicated more so on turning around and handing the ball off to one of the 17 five-star running backs rather than coming out and slinging it from big 5 step drops and full 7 step drops?

Only when we run into team's with a soft enough front 7 that we can run it down their throats in the second half to come away with a 21 point win.

Oh. Sorry. Forgot McTat was the greatest gunslinger any of us will ever witness in our time. Carry on.
