Which is better? Make a run in NIT or lose NCAAt first round to 16 seed?

Honestly dunno?

This. The worst NCAA tournament team is still ranked ahead of the best NIT team at the end of the year.

Search function will pull up at least a 10 page thread on this exact topic.

If that happens, at least you had a great season.

depends, what is your seed in NCAAT?
nobody likes an embarassing first round upset
nobody likes an embarassing first round upset

I personally would take a 50 point loss in the first round over an NIT tournament win.

And this is the correct and only response to the OP.

what about a 30 point loss to an NIT team?

An NIT team beating another NIT team isn't really anything to write home about.

Not necessarily. No one remembers that Mizzou won Big 12 tournament in 2012 and had a 30+ win season.
All they remember is that Mizzou lost to Norfolk State in first round of NCAAt, and therefore they use that one game to define Mizzou's entire program, coach, and 2012 season.

You tell us.

that was my point. yeah it's better to make the tourney unless it's a huge first round upset, people remember that shite.

But I'd rather have an NCAA Tournament appearance. That looks better for program tradition than an NIT appearance or championship.

obviously but again the seeding is important. make it as a 10 seed and no one cares. be a top seed and lose and no one forgets that shite, it's unfair but the highlights are rehashed every March, u should know (valpo)

People remember losses in the NIT too, maybe moreso depending on who you are.

I had almost stopped crying a-hole

no they don't, no one cares about the NIT enough. March Madnrss highlights are rehashed every single year. hell we still see the Hampton coach lifted in the air after beating Iowa St even 10-15 years later

So you've never dropped a "Robert Morris" to a UK fan?

sorry it was a low blow, just goes to show the staying power of an upset
