So basketball gurus - what's got to happen for Arkansas and/or ...

Tennessee to knock Georgia out of 3rd and possibly down to 5th before the SEC tourney?
I believe if we beat LSU we get the 3rd seed. Assuming LSU runs train on us, though, what all has to happen for Georgia to lose their spot and possibly get thrown back into the cheap seats with Mizzou?
I'll hang up and listen.

I honestly was asking myself the same question...

If all three ended up tied to end the season.
Tennessee would take the three seed due to the head to head tie breakers.
Arkansas would take the 4 seed by having the tie breaker over UGA. The tie breaker is going 2-1 vs Florida and Kentucky while UGA was 0fer.

It going to take a lot from the guards on both teams to take out the opossing guards for georgia

Yeah if UGA loses to LSU and Ark/Tenn Both win.. Who gets 3,4.5? I read the tiebreaker rules but its confusing AF.
Anyone with more time and better understanding want to weigh in?
EDIT: Just saw Dale Denton's Post. Thanks

This is what I was kind of afraid of.

Doesn't really matter, don't see LSU beating the Dawgs

Tennessee, Arkansas, and Georgia in that order if all three tie. Georgia loses two team tie breakers with either Tennessee or Arkansas as well. So if Georgia loses and UT and Arky win, Georgia drops to the five. If one of Arky or UT lose, Georgia only drops to the four. Obviously if Georgia wins they're the three.

The only difference between the 4/5 seed is having to play Carolina/Ms. State before facing each other.
In UGA's case, being the 5 seed could actually help them towards post season play, they will pick up an extra game, possible extra win. 1-1 would look better than 0-1 if they lost to the 4/5 game.

Maybe. But any loss right now hurts us. So if we lose to LSU just to go 1-1 in the tourney, we finish the season 1-2 and I don't really see a whole lot of upside.
Getting the third seed out of regular season SEC play, though, may be enough to sneak us into the NIT.

Playing Carolina or Auburn is bad for the RPI though. Georgia has no NCAA tournament at-large hopes anyway, so an extra game won't help them regardless. They should really hope for the double bye.

I wasn't talking about the NCAAs, they will have to win the SEC-T to make that.
I was talking in reference to the NIT who selects teams like the NCAAs does now. Boosting their neutral court record with a win or two over who ever in ATL will do more to make up for their poor non-con showing than being the 3 seed, if you are in a conference above a mid/low major one bid league, conference standings mean nothing.

Oh I agree with all that. I know they have to win the SECt, which is why I said they should want the double bye. As for the NIT, beating Carolina or Auburn isn't going to do anything for them though really, especially because it'd befollowing a loss at LSU. I mean, losing to LSU, beating Carolina, then losing in the next round does jack for then
