Heard about this a week ago. It was detected by sensors and estimated at over 60 million metric tons. It's been verified by flyovers and satellite images. It's larger than the 1958 slide in Glacier Bay which caused a 1,700 ft seiche wave.
The runout on the debris was more than 6 miles. Looks like Mt. La Perouse was sheared in half. The mountain is roughly 9,200 ft in elevation.

Using imagery from the Landsat 8 satellite, scientists have confirmed that a large landslide occurred in southeastern Alaska on February 16, 2014. Preliminary estimates suggest the landslide on the flanks of Mount La Perouse involved 68 million metric tons (75 million short tons) of material, which would make it the largest known landslide on Earth since 2010.
