That's one of the problems my friend mentioned

He said the players at Oklahoma hated playing for him

Per AUR

... senior outfielder Hunter Kelley was cut from the team on Sunday night, and senior infielder Patrick Savage and junior pitcher Chase Williamson quit the team.

FWIW, I've heard this a lot around Bham from knowledgeable baseball people. Now, these were mostly Casey Dunn fans too......

Per a guy on the team, he's a complete and total a-hole. None of the guys want to play for him.

Question becomes if they were just used to not putting in the work and SG expects more or if he is actually a dick

judging by how Paw's teams were so far removed from fundamental baseball, I'm going with our current roster is full of prima donna poons.

there are a lot of jackass baseball coaches (probably more than anyother sport, even football) who win games.

I would guess both. My money would be n Drill Sergeant Galloway is figuratively beating the piss out of this team while they are used to being lazy. It takes a certain type of player to play for a hardass. Guessing we don't have them.

“I'm so thrilled that he's gone that they could hire a basset hound and it would be an improvement,” said Simpson, an Atlanta Braves broadcaster the past two decades.

“I haven't had anything to do with the program since near the end of the Larry Cochell era. I didn't want to have anything to do with it as long as Sunny Golloway was the head coach because I think he's a sorry individual. I think he's a bad guy. I want to thank Auburn University for taking him off our hands and getting him out of Norman.”

Joe SImpson

Overton, who was picked in the second round of the MLB Draft by the Oakland Athletics, sent three tweets to Golloway, calling his old coach “two-faced,” and saying he “lied to our whole team and never had any of our backs.”

quote:

A few other Golloway-era Sooners sent concurring tweets; former reserve catcher Jake Smith said Golloway is “crooked” and “puts out a huge front to the public.”

Is he a good coach, yes.
Is he an a-hole, yes.
Is he trying to do too much too soon, yes.

He needs to realize that these kids are out there to have fun. And running off seniors who were not gonna come back for their senior year with the old staff is in poor form. Criticizing your new players is in poor form. He needs to take a step back and try not to be the biggest a-hole in Auburn. That is tim jacksons job.

for those interested, OU is 5-3 with losses to Setan Hall at home, UCF, and Ohio State... their wins have come over baseball powerhouses setan hall twice, ark pine bluff twice, and the citadel.

He's successful because he's ambitious. I'm glad he doesn't listen to you

Do we say the same thing about other college sports?

And who loses their job if these kids don't produce on the field? Ahhhh, who cares? At least the kids are having fun, right?

this isn't little league anymore. By the time you get to High School ball, you're not out there to have fun. Your main priority is winning and improving your game enough to make it to the next level. You can have fun in the process but that's not why you're out there.

I've had plenty of a-hole coaches in my day. And I appreciate them pushing me.

You can say what you want about him being an a-hole, but he's won at every place he's been. We can't pull in top talent like LSU. We need someone like Golloway who can win with local talent.
