What a great showing, setting an Arkansas record. Good for him. What a great looking player. Hope he keeps it up.

Positive enough?

Positive enough?

Hopefully he can help the rest of the team with their shooting.

Does Mike get a shred of credit for anything?

We beat Alabama and all anyone can talk about is how great Portis looked. I agree, he had a career game. But every time we lose, Mike gets all the blame and the players aren't held accountable. Why the distinction? Is Mike somehow more instrumental in losses than wins?

Lets see. They can't bitch after last nights game about:

Rebounding
Set plays
Free Throws
Player rotation being tightened up.
Kingsley and Portis on court at the same time.

So on other boards they are bitching about the lack of in bounds plays that create shots off the inbound pass.

I agree with all your other points and don't necessarily disagree with this but I still sometimes want to pull my hair out with who's on the court at the same time. Granted sometimes it is pure execution issues but sometimes it's just bad combos IMO. However, when things aren't working well I guess you have to try to mix it up.

Obviously having inbounds plays that get us shots in one or two passes is a waste of time.

I wasn't just talking minutes- I was talking Wade, Scott and Bell and the like being on the court at the same time. But when Scott doesn't stand out by looking horrible, then it is time to mix things up- I get that. Overall, I'm just tired of not being good, but I still like Mike and would love nothing (sportswise) more than him being the guy to get us to good and even further.

Mike is going to play 10-12 guys a game, even if its Scott/Haydar/Wade/Bell who have different amounts of minutes each game, but the rotation has tightened, in non-con the most minutes guys were seeing on average was around 20, now its closer to 30, Clarke would have had closer to 30 if he wasn't in foul trouble last night.

As an odd positive about last nights game- our shooting % was hideous except Portis but the shot selection seemed better than the previous games. The ball just wasn't going in- almost bizarrely so.

Eta: I guess that's at least partially goes along with your set plays comment above.

At one point Scott had the only field goal besides Portis.

It was a dunk.

He has an incredible ability to get to the rim off the dribble.

He always misses those layups when he does or he gets fouled and misses the free throws. Its baffling, if he could make the shots he would actually be a contributor on this roster because of that skill set.

They had good looks while running motion as well.

The difference was they were passing up the first shot for a better shot, going deep in to the shot clock on possessions and we had forwards actually trying to score in the paint instead of all of them trying to score for 17'.

Another positive was when the threes weren't falling, they quit forcing them and tried to get the ball in closer to the rim, but again this was due to the forwards actually trying to score closer to the rim. For a team said to be reliant on the three, they made one last night shooting 7.7% from behind the arc. Plenty of wide open threes didn't fall, maybe 4 were forced instead of the 10 or so like past games.
