Documents leaked by former NSA contactor Edward Snowden suggest that spy agencies have a powerful ally in Angry Birds and a host of other apps installed on smartphones across the globe.

The documents, published Monday by The New York Times, the Guardian, and ProPublica, suggest that the mapping, gaming, and social networking apps which are a common feature of the world's estimated 1 billion smartphones can feed America's National Security Agency and Britain's GCHQ with huge amounts of personal data, including location information and details such as political affiliation or sexual orientation.

it would be hard for me to be friends with that person anymore, I would probably keep them around though just as a power piece to use but they wouldn't be a true friend anymore.

They're just trying to catch terrorists, it's not like the NSA exists to watch people jack off. That's becoming the public perception though, and I guess perception is reality.

well we both work in Technology so he doesn't really share much with our group of friends about it due to the recent revelations, but he's told me kinda what he's doing. Can't get in to any specifics, but most of his work will not be local to the US.

Really great guy that is one of the most honest and humble people i know. He was in the Corps @ A&M and wanted to serve the country in armed forces but couldn't due to medical condition. This is his best path.

I reckon they know my waking habits now, with my alarm clock app. And where some of my customers are, with my maps app.

Angry Birds is just an example of one of the apps that they use. I'm sure they use Facebook and shite like that too.

My wife has a 4S and has had sucky battery life since the upgrade to iOS7.

I started looking at battery options and found some of the location features. I noticed that it nailed down our house, her gym, our church, and her work as her frequents and identified them as such.

Then i looked at my work iPhone and it had identified my travel and customers across the state and linked that to the contacts on my phone.

So I could grab my phone and it would say that i visited customer A in Katy, TX for 1.5 hours on Tuesday, Costomer B in Houston for 1 hour in Houston. It actually attached the people's name to the visit.

then it noted that i went back to my home office in San Antonio for 3 days before coming back to my home (it called it that) in Temple.

crazy scary and mind blowing how much information we give out in that stuff

Yeah, I can't believe that so many people are perfectly ok with this. They all say "If you're not doing anything wrong them you shouldn't care" or some shite like that.

bullshite. You should care regardless of whether you're a career criminal or a perfectly law abiding citizen.

I care, but I have to have my phone with me at all times for work purposes. It's a cost of a stupid society, willing to give up freedoms overall, for comfort and the false illusion of security.
