LSU beat 8 ranked teams in 2011, including the Cotton Bowl, Rose Bowl, Orange Bowl and BCSCG winners.

Only beat 7 top 20 though.
Played 8 bowl teams as well and 4 ranked in the top 10.
The team being reference played 7 top 20 and 4 top 10 teams as well. But played 9 bowl teams and 10 teams that finished with a winning record. Over a 12 game schedule.
