With the pressure he's under, he's gotta go full nazi. I like it. #5 surprised me though.

for future reference if you just click img and paste that kind of link the image will show up on the page.
I like the rules though strong and me agree with what the problem there was. I think he also knows he doesn't have near the history that Mack had with texas. He is probably under tremendous pressure. He'll either thrive or the wheels will come off. Should be a great story either way.

Why is this reminding me somewhat of the coach in 'Remember the Titans'?

Well that's not gonna help him going head to head vs. A&M in recruiting. Not saying I don't agree with some of it, but seems a little hardcore honestly

it does kind of read like a movie script set of rules. I'll be interested to see if this really works or if it fails spectacularly.

Speaking as someone who has to deal with larger than life leader figures every day (i.e. a CO of a submarine), I think there are a lot of leadership 'isms' that apply to both situations.
Usually, a new coach or CO will start out being a hardass, and then soften up a bit as he gets to know people. It's important for a new guy to be consistent and set expectations so his players/sailors know what to expect. Talk is cheap. I'm sure many coaches and COs talk about expectations and winning and even come up with great plans, but the real hard thing is finding a workable plan and executing it. If Strong gets people to buy in early on, he has a chance to change a culture. If he doesn't, it could be a short tenure.

I like it. There is obviously something wrong with the current state of the team since they can pretty much recruit at will but they can't beat teams like Baylor.
Strong might lose a few players because of this but Texas is always going to have elite talent. If a kid's primary focus is football it won't bother them too much to have to focus on it.

Texas will never have to worry about recruiting. Kids are born and raised here wanting to go there. It's not about who Texas CAN recruit, it's about what kids get the offer. It's like fish in a barrell between A&M and Texas.

Thoughts?
If I'm a recruit considering Texas, this sounds terrible. Now that the list is public, other coaches will surely use this against Strong and it won't be that difficult. Sumlin is reading this and saying "Thanks a pant load, Charlie!"

If I'm a recruit that is fully committed to football and want to win, be the best player I can be, and one day go to the NFL then these rules would actually appeal to me. Texas has the luxury of running off a few recruits.

If we are talking about Arkansas, maybe.
Texas? No.
And I'm of the belief that it's more of a PR move than anything.

This would be a terrible PR move. And it's not PR anyway, that pic in the OP is of a computer screen, Strong didn't make these rules public.

oh. I thought he did.
Either way, it would be a GOOD move.
The mentality here is of Mack letting the inmates run things. Texas does not equal Arkansas in terms of anything football related.Think more along the lines of the grown ups/parents. It's a different culture all together.
When I say that kids here are born and bred on texas football...the fact that my 5500 after homestead exemption taxes on my average middle class home due to funding new state of the art stadiums what seems like very damn 5 years is only a slice of it. They LIVE to play football for either UT or A&M. Period. Most of those who go elsewhere (like Rex Burkhead) is due to their parents school. His mom went to Nebraska. He was born a Nebraska fan. Tech gets leftovers, too.
This is not going to hurt Texas recruiting. It's texas-not TCU

I haven't brought up Arkansas once, I'm not comparing the two.
I'm talking about any team recruiting against Texas. After reading these rules, if I'm a recruit and both UT and aggy are recruiting me then Strong just made my decision a lot easier.
A recent poll showed that the number one goal for children in America today is to become famous. At aggy you have Manziel all over TMZ, Sumlin going to concerts in the swagger copter, etc. That stuff appeals to kids a lot more than strict rules and penalties for missing one class.
