BATESVILLE, Ark. (KTHV) - A possible link to a Mexican drug cartel was uncovered in a Southside home on Monday night.
Independence County Investigators said they found evidence from a money laundering operation on Camp Tahkodah Road; the first of its kind in the county.
The home is located just two blocks from Southside High School.
Sheriff Steve Jeffery said officers found money all over the house totaling $44,000 in cash.
"Now we have seized large sums of money in drug raids before, but this strictly looked like a cash house drop off. This house basically had no furniture. It wasn't really used as a home, strictly for wrapping and packing money," said Jeffery
