Mullen isn't leaving Starkville. He's established them, and the money won't be enough of a difference to get him to leave.
Word is he doesn't like Starkvillre and will take the first similar or better job to get out of there.

Nobody "likes" Starkville.... but it fits his grumpy personality. IMO, Mullen would struggle in a more serious fishbowl like Florida Football, or any major program with huge expectations.

He's right at home there, IMO

You might be right but remember how you see things and how he sees it are likely 2 vastly different things. No coach has a mindset that they would struggle at a major job.

I should've clarified... Struggled in how he deals with the media/boosters/staff/etc. Mullen is an a-hole who has frequent runins with the state media... He can be abrasive (typical new englander). that shite can fly at msu where no one gives a shite, but that's not the case at a more high profile job.

More from AUC

-the staff likes it's chances of keeping Tony Bridges
-TB likes man coverage and the staff feels they have an advantage there as AU likely plays more man than the Rebs.

It can if a coach wins big. Nick Saban and Urban say hi.

That whole thing where TTs posted something from 247 but didn't say where he got it so I assumed it was a rumor.

Forgot about all that. My bad. I would laugh now that I get it but that would be sad so I'm not.

I know this probably gets posted once a week but how are we with DT's for next season? Currently we have Adams and Russell and I'm assuming E Daniel, A Williams and D Lawrence will play inside next year as well. Do the coaches feel like that group can get it done or do we need 1 or 2 guys from the 2015 class to come in an play right away? Next season could be a special year but this is the one position group where I'm a little iffy on our talent level.

That looks about right except for A-Will. He may grow into a DT next year instead os a SDE but that is not a given at the moment. It will depend how how the staff feels about both DEs and DTs. As we know, Garner likes to play 4 to 5 DTs and DEs a game if he can. DT's look to be

Monty
Daniel
Russell
Lawrence

The staff plans to sign 2-3 DTs in this class. If A-Will is not moved to DT next year then it would be a good guess that 1 or 2 DT signees will likely contribute.

I've been a little disappointed that we haven't made Beckner a priority in terms of at least making a flight out to St Louis to visit him in person. I thought that'd be done during the bye week.

Yeah and the earliest we'll visit him now is December per AUC.

fwiw, ESPN now has Beckner as their #1 recruit.

247 dropped Queen to a 3*

They said they think he will do well in AU's system but he doesn't project much further than that because of his limited skill set.

With Freeze and Mullen likely being the top 2 options on many jobs wish list, they are not likely to leave their schools (if they leave) til after the bowl season given how good the 2 teams are now.

If they don't end up in the playoff, they'll leave as soon as the school giving them the big raise wants'em.

With Mullen I agree. But I get a different impression with Freeze. I think he has the ability to build them up and he really wants to do it. Could be wrong though.

I definitely agree Freeze is the one more likely to stay.

My point was that IF either leave their current position and their team isn't in the playoff, they'll leave as soon as their new team desires them to be there.

Well yeah, Starkville kind of sucks. The campus is nice, but who would actually want to live in that town?
