That defensive line was ridiculous. Best we've faced all year. I can't believe Mason had as many yards as he did, because more times than not there was no where to go. Really shows the awareness of Mason to turn negative plays into positive yardage by slipping threw cracks or bounching to the outside. The FSU Dline completely stopped Marshall. He tried to force a few QB keepers but FSU wasn't having it. For the first time this year that cool and collective look on NM turned into a uncomfortable panic look. FSU brought pressure all night, from the start to finish. Even with only 4 down linemen they were getting to NM on pass plays. 1 thing that bothered me was the lack of adjustments made to offset the pressure. I'm particularly talking about the play where NM fakes the sweep then turns and fakes to Tre then turns to survey the field. By the time all the fake motions and handoffs had taken place the dline was in NMs face. Some quick 3step drops would of been nice rather than 3 fakes then a sack. Anyway, that dline was beastly and our style of offense does not match up against a beast dline. FACT

Jernigan was dominant. We had no answer

Exactly. The SEC has preached that what made us stand out the last 7 years is the D Lines. You control the line of scrimmage, you can limit any offense you face. FACT.

By the end of the game, their DLine was gassed, just like every other. For whatever reason, Malzahn didn't employ pace very often. Even with Auburn running straight at FSU's strength, and FSU completely selling out on the run, they ran for 232 yards. Marshall kept the ball on a few he should have handed to Mason, and gave it to Mason on a few that he should have kept.

What really ended up hurting Auburn was Marshall not delivering in the passing game. It was expected, but still hurt nonetheless.

Yep and when it comes down to it Jernigan and Goldman are two NFL starting defensive tackles

This is where we will miss Mason the most. CAP runs hard but like a bull dozer. Excited to see Barber and Roc.

Marshall made too many clutch 3rd down passes and led the should've been game winning TD drive to be blamed for anything. but there were plenty of times I wish he had handed it off.

namely the 3rd and 4 to go up by 8.

Dude,

Go look at the box score. We dominated in every statistical category. Special teams killed us last night.

Naw, our special teams was the game changer. Missed FG, allowed that fake punt, allowed the TD on the KO, bobbled every kick return so we got no yards.

Clark was the only part of the special teams that played well yesterday. Hell our KOs usually aren't even returnable.

FSU was 2-12 on 3rd down. Based on that stat alone I would think we would've won.

Exactly! You give me that stat line in that game and I'd say we win 99% of the time. Special teams really let us down last night with the exception of Clark.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I felt like Marshall made incorrect reads very often last night. I would see a load of open running room for Marshall on the outside if he simply would've kept it because the FSU D was keying on Mason so much.

I think several times though those FSU linebackers were just in the right place to adjust based on Marshall's reads. That D Line was great but Joyner was on fire as far as reading what Marshall was trying to do for a lot of the night.

I don't care about box score just watching the game it was evident their dline was abusing us. Hell even my wife kept saying over and over "their line is good"

No doubt special teams played like shite though

Game changer? Not really. So we couldn't run for 300 yards, passing is what killed us. We missed wide open throws, missed reads, we have a RB playing qb. Marshall is a great runner but his accuracy alone took 11 off the board tonight.

Heck, Auburn 80 plays, 25 first downs, 10-18 on 3rd down, 449 total yards, 217 passing, 232 rushing, 38 yards on penalties and 33:41 in TOP.

FSU 66 plays, 19 first downs, 2-12 on 3rd down, 1-1 on 4th, 385 total yards, 237 passing, 148 rushing, 60 yards in penalties and 26:19 in TOP.

Most of those stats would say Auburn would've won the game. But you cannot give up a TD on a kickoff with 4 minutes remaining and you shouldn't go away from rushing in the redzone when rushing late in the game is working well.

As someone who could see the field and what FSU was doing, we didn't lose because their DLine but because they had the DE crash on Tre and LB blitz contain on Nick Marshall. In the second half we tried to force way too many read option plays and should have passed more.

Also our WR blocking was atrocious

What expectations we have when we rush for 232 yds while being abused.
