If tre mason kneels on the 5, does auburn win?

Seems like it. I don't understnd why the players don't have situational awareness.

You don't want to leave them 1:20. Kneel at the 5, pound it a few times. With multiple timeouts and that great rushing attack, they would have been able to punch it in and seal their fate.

But if he does kneel and Fla State stops them on 4 downs they talk about it as the biggest blunder in history.

Can't be guaranteed. He scored from 40 yards out. It's not like they were first and goal.

Auburn's D had to step up. They didn't. Auburn's offense didn't lose it.

But what if AU doesn't get in? At that point people would say he should have scored.

As the great Pat Dye once said, "Hindsight is 50/50".

You kick a 20 yard field goal to tie the game.

Auburn shouldn't have been snapping the ball with 25+ seconds inside of field goal range

The gimmick backfired

It's a tricky situation.

In Madden, I would.

I wouldn't kneel at the 5, but at the 1 or 2 maybe. It would have been tactically smarter to do, but there is that lingering worry that you can't get in, fumble the snap, or settle for a kick (that could be missed/blocked) to go to OT when you could have taken the lead.

But with a RB that will get you a yard, like Mason, yeah, kneel on it, if only to get another 30 seconds off the clock.

Another thing is that the Auburn DB should have grabbed that big FSU receiver's foot and pulled him away from that last pass.
The subsequent PI would have put it on the 1 yard line, but FSU would have only had like 13 seconds left.

Never seen a team do that. You have to trust your defense with a minute I go to keep the other team out of the end zone. Hindsight is 20/20 but there is no way you kneel. Imagine if they kneel and only get a fg and then lose in overtime......the backlash would be enormous. Instead, everyone just said the Heisman winner stepped up.

When Parkey missed that FG, I said to myself that might have been the game right there.

I'd feel tentimes better about malzahn calling up scoring plays than stopping FSU with momentum.

Either way, hell of a game. Impressed with auburn big time.

A field goal is not guaranteed.

Turnovers happen.

You take points when you can.

NO.

you never intentionally not take the lead.

Auburn was losing by three so a FG only ties. You score and take the lead. If they were down 1 or 2, you may down the ball and run the clock (I would not) then kick the game winning FG, but you are assuming Auburn would score.

This is so incredibly stupid. You score when given the opportunity. They needed a touchdown for the win, not a FG. You take the guaranteed touchdown. Anything can happen in the next 4 plays. Stops, fumble, penalties, etc.

You have to think your defense can stop a team from marching th length of the field in the final minutes.....ohhhh, now I see why you're advocating this

Probably. But we can play the what if game all day long.

What if AU was ready for that fake punt and stopped it? What if one of AU's players didn't pull a hamstring when Whitfield ran that kick back for a TD? What if Cody Parkey didn't pull a Cade Foster and miss a chip shot FG? What if Davis and Smith (DB's) didn't collide with each other and took Rashad Greene down after an 8 yard gain instead of a 45 yard gain? What if Tre Mason took a knee at the 5? (LOL would look silly).

FSU also had some what if moments. We can play it all day, but bottom line is AU lost in a good hard fought game that I thought was called pretty fairly by the refs. AU got away with some shit, but so did FSU (holding mainly).

Auburn was intent on choking, there was nothing they could do to stop it.

What if we fumble?

bottom line is you take the points. Th situation was almost identical to the A&M game for us... mason scores a TD with 1:10ish on the clock and we KO to a heisman winning QB. Sometimes it works out. Sometimes it doesn't.

Well, missing out on the touchdown earlier, and missing a chipshot field goal lost it for them as well.

That field goal could have made the game already tied, or within 1 point, meaning Mason should kneel on the 5, kneel 3 times and kick the game winner. Basically, 2010 repeat.

Tell me how FSU has momentum when they gave up the go ahead score with 1:19 left. It's a retarded argument and every coach in the game would agree that you take the touchdown right there

With that post, it's obvious that you deserve Les Miles as your coach.
