I'm pumped that he will be starting, most likely (FINALLY). It sucks that he couldn't get it together during the season to keep the starting job, but if he is coming on now, then that will be fantastic for next season. It seems like we haven't had two solid CBs on the field at the same time, to where they could lock down their WRs most of the time. Even the combo of Dee/Dre wasn't great at first when Dee was young.

So what is the outlook on Eddie going into the Sugar Bowl and into next season, and who would be the IDEAL (not likely) choice to spell him?

I guess Cyrus Jones finally pissed Saban off. Had Eddie been starting all year, Bama might be in the NCG. Had Cyrus not given Auburn that TD, Bama's defense would have stopped them.

Lot of *if's* being thrown out there.

Had Eddie handled his business maybe we go all the way....just like had nudie not miss his block on Yeldons 4th down run we might have beaten Auburn.

Point is...even with Eddie in the line up, there's no way of knowing he would have made a difference.

I've been excited about Jackson since the Ole Miss game and think he's better than Cyrus Jones.

If Jackson was better than Cyrus all year, he would have played.

Every time I see Eddie on the field, he is makeing plays. Every time I see Cyrus on the field, he is giving up a big play. Now I have not idea what is happeing in practice, but during games Eddie has been better when he has played.
However, Cyrus did make one of the biggest plays of the year during the A&M game.

Eddie Jackson has the potential to be the best corner on our roster, and it isn't even close. I'm very excited about him playing, and I'm also happy that Cyrus Jones will be on the bench.

cyrus was a wr his first year at bama ... and willing to do whatever saban required off the field, which ej, apparently, was not ...

not sure he deserves all the criticism you folks want to throw at him ... he'll get better at cb the more he plays it ...

Let's look at this objectively. If Cyrus Jones was playing for LSU or AU, would you say that he is a good corner? I know there is a learning curve, but at what point do you sit him? Fulton got burned. He got benched. Mo got burned. He got benched. Cyrus Jones got burned. He got a starting job.

That's a lie. Saban doesn't play the best player, he plays the one who buys into his process the most. Eddie didn't do the right things and didn't play, but based on how each have played, Eddie is better than Cyrus. It has always been the same with Saban. Older guys are usually given the chance, and they usually stick when the younger guy fricks up off the field.

I'm not an expert in DB technique, so can someone tell me what EJ does especially well?

All I know is Eddie Jackson shut down one of the best receivers in the SEC in his only start.
