According to SI in their new issue.

Jay Bilas won broadcaster of the year. Rebecca Lowe won rookie of the year. Rod won play by play announcer of the year.

quote:

"Bramblett was given two once-in-a-lifetime plays this year, and he delivered on both. Though his call of Chris Davis' 109 yard dash in the Iron Bowl will be played for eternity, even better was his description of Ricardo Louis's 73 yard catch of a tipped ball that gave the Tigers a 43-38 win over Georgia on Nov. 16: 'A miracle at Jordan-Hare! A miracle at Jordan-Hare!'"

Well deserved. I still get chills when I watch the Ricardo Louis catch with Rod's call. That is ingrained in my DNA now.

I think these calls finally get him completely out of Fyffe's shadow. He's had some great calls (Go Crazy Cadillac, Newton's Law, etc.) over the years, but these seal the deal.

I agree. We'll see videos with these calls playing for decades into the future. I agree though that the call on Louis' catch was definitely his best work.

Although the kick six was really close mostly because of Stan White going insane in the background.

You guys have seen this lip sync of Bramlett from the Bama game right? Love it.

Stan White's "oh my God!" during the runback is just pure awesome...

I've always liked Rod and thought he was the best in the SEC. Never understood some of the negativity towards him other people had.

here's a full list

I was listening to Chuck and Chernoff and Steak Shapiro was filling in for Chuck

I googled it because they were talking about the winners and refused to talk about the knuckleheads of the year

I guess I see why now

quote:

Knuckleheads of the Year
THE PICK: Nick Cellini, Chris Dimino and Steak Shapiro (former co-hosts of 790 (Atlanta) The Zone's Mayhem in the AM)
Taking lowest common denominator sports talk to a new low, the trio mocked former New Orleans Saints player Steve Gleason and his battle with ALS, with Cellini adopting a robotic voice, pretending to be the former NFL player. (One of the classy punch lines was the Gleason impersonator saying, "Smother me, do me a favor.") The hosts were fired from the station, and later apologized.
