Assuming, for the moment, Alabama and FSU win out. Obviously, if Bama loses to either Auburn or Mizzou, all bets are off. But assuming they don't...with N. Illinois and UCF getting auto bids, probably to the Fiesta and Sugar, respectively, and with probably Oklahoma State getting an auto bid to the Fiesta, that leaves two at large bids to the Orange and one to the Sugar.

Who gets them?

If they don't lose again, Clemson will be #4 and Baylor probably will be #7. Who gets the third bid...Auburn? Missouri? And who goes where? Since the Sugar would pick first, would they take a #4 Clemson over a two loss SEC team and send the SEC team to the Orange? If you're Auburn or MIssouri, would you rather go to the Sugar and play UCF or the Orange and play Baylor?

It will depend on the games this weekend.

God, who wants to watch UCF, NIU, or Fresno St?

Too early to pontificate on this matter

Exactly. If Bama loses, I hope we end up in the Orange, which could be very possible, since Bama probably wouldn't drop below #5, and the Orange would get the first pick. There could easily be a Bama-Baylor matchup in the Orange, and as much as I would hate to lose, a Bama-Baylor matchup could be a lot of fun to watch.

What pisses me off is that the Rose Bowl never has to take these shitty at-large teams (Boise, Fresno, N. Illinois,....), therefore the PAC12 and B1G teams always get a better matchup.

Excuse the ignorance, but UCF gets the auto bid from the AAC, right?

Doesn't the rule say that if a team like NIU/Fresno finishes in the top 12 they get the auto bid, OR the top 16 if they are ahead of the lowest auto bid. And if that's the case, is it just limited to one? In theory, if there is one from every non-AQ conference, they would eat up all of the at-larges.

I don't mind Fresno as much - I think they could be an entertaining team to watch, like Boise State and TCU were. Northern Illinois needs to lose the MAC Title Game. They are a very bad team as they showed in last year's Orange Bowl.

Auto Qualifiers:
SEC: Auburn/Alabama/South Carolina
ACC: Florida State/Duke
B1G: Ohio State/Michigan State
Big 12: Oklahoma State/Baylor
Pac 12: Stanford/Arizona State
AAC: Central Florids

In the Top 12: None
In the Top 16 Ahead of AQ: Fresno State, Northern Illinois

Best scenario would be for Texas to beat Baylor and give them a second loss. They are an attractive team. South Carolina needs to represent the SEC and beat Clemson to give them a second loss.

A Michigan State upset of Ohio State (Something that could happen that hasn't got a lot of publicity) would give the B1G two teams. I think the Alabama/Auburn loser will be guaranteed an at-large spot as well.

Some big games this week and next to sort this out.

I'll excuse you since you are new to real football, but the Rose Bowl has had to take shitty teams before. In fact, they got a double shitty game a few years ago when they had to take the WAC Champion and the MWC Champion in the same year.

That was a Fiesta Bowl, though the Rose did have to take TCU to play Wisconsin a couple years ago, and only because the contract required them to do it eventually. They were the only bowl that hadn't had a Non-AQ yet.

That was the Fiesta Bowl in 2009.

The Rose Bowl did have to take a "shitty" at-large team in 2010 to replace Oregon. They took no. 3 TCU, who beat Big 10 champ Wisconsin.

AAC gets an auto-bid this year only, so UCF will get in.

If Scar can win out, they're going to be extremely attractive you'd have to think. Their fan base would pack out any BCS bowl they get sent to.

After that its crap. Nobody is going to want Baylor if they don't end up an auto-qualifier in the top 10 I don't think. They don't have a fan base to speak of, and won't sell tickets.

I'll say South Carolina, Clemson, and Oregon will be the three. I think Wisconsin has a shot a good shot to be picked if they get into the top 14.

Auburn, Oregon, and Clemson if they beat USCe (or maybe even if they don't).
