Any of you Arky folks hearing anything? He is apparently still a Texas "commit" but taking officials all over including Arky and A&M. Personally I am surprised our staff is still interested, guy has been all over the map.

impossible this kid said he was done. I don't mind the whole recruiting thing and I know these kids are making the biggest decision of their life but jesus at least be truthful and stay committed where you say you'll be committed too, don't lie to people. Just keep it quiet if you don't know.

with that said I hope we get him.

While I agree with this sentiment to an extent, it should go both ways. A coach can leave or a school can change things dramatically but the kid is still bound by his LOI and once he is at a school there are lots of restrictions around transferring. Technically every scholarship is a 1 year ship as well so they can trapdoor kids and push them out in all kinds of ways.

Realistically though we are talking about 17 year old kids that often don't have family that have gone to college or have the best home environments (esp the ones that like the drama). They are just playing the game and enjoying the attention because they can. I also can understand how many might commit early to a school to secure a scholarship regardless of their Sr Year performance and then decide to shop around after the season to make sure they are making the right choice (or to just go on recruiting trips where hot girls will suck their cock).

Reading between the lines we may end up getting him. With the number of true freshman playing this year and his cousin on the team it sounds like we have a good shot...we need him

it just seems to me that less kids are doing this and more are just saying i'm 100% committed then changing their mind a few weeks later. If you aren't sure then don't commit, especially when you have the option to attend just about anywhere in the country.

just because I don't like the way the people play the game doesn't mean I think we should quit playing with them, I just don't like the way they handled that. I still want the best recruits we can get no matter the drama I have to tolerate reading about, hell if I get to where I don't like something about a recruit I just quit reading about him and hope we land him.

Actually hope Arky gets Shorter, we've got 4 running backs for next year already, not including Nixon ('14 commit). We need to use that ship on an area of more pressing need. I honestly wonder if he has a committable offer to A&M at this point, it would surprise me if he does.

If he dumps his lady he'll end up a Hog.

I agree he isn't a huge need. His skill set would fit in great in our offense though

It would be nice if these kids would recognize that the odds of them breaking up no matter where he goes to school are extremely high.

He's been to Fayetteville like 4 times since he committed to Texas while not visiting them.

You're not even including the 2 2015 backs we have committed thusfar.

None of the 4 returning backs we have will be seniors in 2014. 3 juniors and 1 RS Freshman + Nixon.

However, looking at it long-term if Shorter comes to us:

If you redshirt Nixon and Shorter, you have 4 active backs in 2014, 6 in 2015, then only 4 in 2016 if we don't pick up any additional backs.

Shorter to Arkansas would be a match made in heaven. He would be burried in depth here. At Arky he will be a feature back at some point behind a good O-line that runs the ball. Idk why he commited to Texas in the first place. how bout you guys get shorter, we will take Frazier off your hands deal?

He appears to be a Longwhorn fan from tweets and such, but when push comes to shove fandom matters less to some than others. Him and the rest of the world not knowing about Mack's future isn't helping and their almost obscene waste of talent can't be ignored either.

I'm hoping DJ Dean probably moving to starter this week will help us. Also seeing us spread the ball around pretty good to different backs has to help even if our record is a steaming pile of shite right now. Marshall moving back to safety would open up even more touches. We will probably end up with two 1,000 yard backs even though we only have held the ball like three hours all year total.

An early signing period would eliminate some of the wishy washy kids. Or at least it would allow coaches enough time to get a contingency plan together instead of being left at the altar on signing day.
