Would you pick Nick Saban or Bear Bryant?

Pretty sure they'd pick Saban

And whoever you don't pick is the coach for the other team and they have equal talent

Bryant's dead, so I'll go with Saban.
Better question - dead Bryant or Les Miles?

The truth is, being a great coach isn't about the ability to win a game. It's about preparing the team to play the game more than anything.
Both of them are good at adjustments, so I don't know. I wouldn't ask Saban to coach against a HUNH, though, he hates that.

Dead Bryant.

Mike Price. He was undefeated at Bama

I would not want either for one game. What made Bryant great and makes Saban great is not something that would work for one game. Kids run thru a brick wall for them because of the trust and relationship. They said it could be done so the kids does not ask but simply does what the coach told them would work.
That level of relationship takes a huge time investment. Neither are "THE BEST" at in game adjustments without the foundation having been put in place for those adjustments months earlier. They won because of prep work not fancy adjustments on the fly.

Nick Saban. I think he's probably the better x's and o's type coach.
I'm speculating--Bear was really before my time. I view him as a figurehead/motivator/guru/philosophy kind of guy. You run through a brick wall for him because you love him and don't want to disappoint him kind of guy.
Not really a one-game kind of coach.
That's a good question though.
The real question: if you could have either, at 30, to lead your program, which one would you take?
WOW. I'd probably pick the Bear. We like Saban. But I think we've kept each other at arm's length. We loved Bryant.

Saban, as Coach Bryant is dead.
