With Maty coming in we know the playbook will be shortened for him. One play I wish they rip out of the playbook is the Sideline WR Screen. Either the DB comes up and tackles for a loss or the sideline jumps out and our WR goes out of bounds. The Sasser to Washington play was not set up by those screens.

Maty second throw should have been picked and go the other way for 6 if Josey did not do such a good job of catching it. That sounds dumb but that is what happened.

Maty looked very calm and comfortable on that throw to DGB. More plays like that for the young man.

Maty should have had 25- 50 pass attempts by now. The coaching staff had plenty of opportunities to give him some reps. Well that is when they did not FORGET to put him in there.

Make it simple for him and let him do what he does best, throw it down field

Despise this play. Has been used so much this year, with so little success.

But, I think since this is an easy completion and you don't have to look at any downfield coverage it will be used plenty. We'll see.

It's a shame too because we do have so much success throwing the ball down field. We have the receivers that can go get the ball. I'm in the group that wishes they'd get rid of that play as well but as you said sleeping, doubt they will.

I hate this play too, but I think they throw it in there every once in a while to keep the defense honest. This may have set up that Sasser td pass. Also, these horizontal plays may make it so the defensive ends can't just bum rush the qb. Hell I don't know, too many beers today. But it makes some sense in my mind. I can't figure out why else they would run it.

Cheers.

This play reminds me of Yost.

It needs to die.

Which tells me perhaps it's a Pinkel favorite.

Yeah. It's got pick-6 written all over it.

I saw the end of the second replay just now, and I wonder about Mauk's arm strength. Maybe I've just too much NFL over the years, but his ball looks like it floats to me. Small sample size to be sure.

Agree? Disagree?

Very much agree with you. Thought both balls he threw could have been picked easily.

I understand he just came into the game though and was not prepared for this. Hopefully going to credit that for his less than stellar passing.
