and now #2.. not really looking forward to seeing him get playing time, but I'm sure he will. I can see Pink giving him some snaps since he played last year and has more experience.

Also, what are the chances of burning Printz's RS?

Half way through the season already? I guess it's the non-answer type of answer but I only hope they burn his RS if it is because it gives us the best chance of winning. I really liked what I saw and frankly, if preseason lasted another few weeks, I think Printz might have ultimately surpassed Mauk on the depth chart, but at this point I wouldn't burn his RS unless they have good reason to believe it gives us the best chance to win.

I think he'd be better this year. A bad o-line can make any qb look bad.

I really don't get the level of Berk hate. I get why Mauk is the first up, but don't get why no one gives Berk a chance.

Guy is a pocket passer that had no pocket to throw in last year. He's not a dance around and make plays kinda guy, he needs an Oline so he can stand in there and deliver passes with that strong arm.

Look at the teams he played against, look at the situation with Mizzou at the time. It's insane that he's been totally written off.

Then throw in the fact that he totally committed himself to changing his body this offseason, dropped major body fat and got quicker.

Things will probably have to get really bad for this to happen, but I wish there was more realistic discussion of this happening.

I agree, Sleepy. I think we should give Mauk one quarter against Florida. If he shits the bed, Berk should be brought in to attempt to salvage the game.

Don't forget, Berk beat Arizona State and UCF last year.

We didn't burn Mauks last year.

Have to wonder what Tyler Gabbert is thinking right about now. Depending on his development, he could have had significant time last year and potentially this year.

He has since quit UCF. Maturity was probably an issue.

Berk has a clean slate. People should accept that. Berk was thrown into a dumpster fire last year and still led the team to a solid win vs ASU and he had put MU in the lead before Franklin came in vs Kentucky.

This team is nothing like last year. Better OL. Better WR play. Better RB play. MUCH better playcalling (thanks Henson).

If Berk comes in, I'll be worried because of one thing, and it isn't Berk's abilities. It will be because Mauk is going to get probably 99% of the reps this week in practice to get him as ready as possible for UF and that means Berk will be highly unprepared and ready to come in vs UF.

Would anyone be surprised if Printz is actually number 2 now and Berk is still #3?

A little bit. But only because of Berk's experience from last year and the fact that we are 50% of the way through the season and I would suspect they'd prefer not to burn the redshirt. Having said that, whatever it takes to win and if that means burning it...then burn it. If Printz gives the better opportunity to win(and all indications were he surpassed Berk in preseason) then burn it.

Would be surprised if that would happen this week.

I'd think Berk would get his chance if it comes up.

The next couple weeks will decide if Printz burns his shirt.

Finally! Something we are totally in agreement with. I knew you had it in ya!

Berk tried best he could behind a damaged and shellshocked team last year. Give this kid time to throw, he's got the arm.

With the way henson calls games, more verticle passes, I would think that would fall more into Berks strengths.

Lots of talk by the Rivals guy Gabe on Powermizzou about the possibility of burning Print's redshirt.

From the people with "inside knowledge" on the board Printz might be the more solid QB at this point, and if Mauk gets into trouble they wouldn't be surprised to see him play.

I have outside knowledge and know that Printz is better. Been trying to tell ppl that Mauk isn't a big time div 1 athlete. We shall see.

His golden arm combined with the great athletes around him and solid play calling could keep the truth covered for a little while but eventually it will show.

I would be surprised but not disappointed if this happened.

This was kind of my thought... is Berk only #3 because Printz is redshirted? If Printz doesn't have a RS would he be #3 maybe #2?

The problem with Printz is that he probably hasn't practiced with the first team.. that would be a really hard adjustment and it is very uncommon for someone in this situation to do well. I hope we don't burn it, but nothing will surprise me.

I also think it's really interesting how much everyone hated Berk last year, but now you are all cutting him a break. Beat up oline or not, I thought he was very unimpressive last year. I don't think we could win any remaining games (well not including uk) with berk.

I was all for Berk last year. And have said many times that the only reason he is 3 and Mauk is 2 is for PR reasons, as well as recruiting reasons.

Berk was the only qb in camp to not turn the ball over, while Mauk had 3 picks and I believe just as many fumbles.

If you're looking for a true backup, it should have been Berk. A big body to gain a few yards on the ground when needed (Bell style). And a guy with experience who showed he is less likely to turn the ball over in the air. Mauk was gifted his #2 spot. Being from Ohio doesn't hurt either.
