Uhhhhh, no it wasn't. It was just normal rain and a little wind. A thin poncho is all that was needed.

No, the poem came way after the phrase. The poem is only a few years old I believe. The phrase came from the old announcer who said it before it was about to pour and after a while it just stuck they kept saying it. Or at least that's what I've been told

That's awesome. Is Miles just playing up these Milesisms now?
The man has literally been trolling the media ever since he got here in 2005.

What does the whole "it never rains in tiger stadium" saying go back to?
It comes from our PA Announcer, Dan Borne, who also wrote the poem.
Since i've been going to games, during the pregame, when they do the weather, he gives the temperature, wind direction and lastly, he always says "Chance of Rain, Never" in a very matter of fact voice.

I've never gotten a straight answer on origins, but Borne (stadium announcer) says that he started doing it at the end of the weather forecast long after the myth, or saying started.
I just know it was one of the first LSU traditions I learned as a child, and it always goes something like "it never rains in Tiger Stadium...which is bullshite, i've gotten poured on in there plenty"

Um, no. It was a heavy mist or light drizzle at most. I sat through it, it wasn't bad.

I always just thought it was because Bo Rein never got to coach a game there

Pretty sure that was a wake off the SS Jeremy Hill

Luckily he wins or he would be absolutely reviled by his fanbase. Those things that make him awesome to them now would earn him ridicule if he went 8-5 or so every year.

No, it was a "heavy mist".

This. When interviewed after writing the poem Borne said that when he first got the PA job it hadn't rained in Tiger Stadium for a while (i think maybe like 2 or 3 seasons worth of home games)so people started saying the phrase. He liked it and worked it into the pregame. Once again this is just what I heard in an interview the origins could have been much earlier than Borne.
