I don't remember when he was coming out of high school. Did LSU give him an offer at all? Late bloomer? I honestly never heard of him til he was with the Bears.

We didn't offer. We weren't exactly fighting it out with Tulane for recruits at that time. If we'd offered, he would have been at LSU.

Seemed like other players were killing us that day in NOLA.

We didn't want him, kinda dumb in hindsight but you can't hit on 'em all.

Doubt it was dumb. You just never know what 18 year olds continue to grow and develop and which ones peak in high school.
Seeing the player intros on the Bears game just made me think what his story was back then.

The staff liked him alot and tried to make it work. A very solid back in HS on a bad team. Could have done better than Tulane but wanted a good education and I'm pretty sure got his degree in 4 years.

I didn't know who he was until I watched him running over the LSU D, for the most part, in the dome.

We probably had plenty of RBs at the time.

Wayne Grubb was awful at getting his players exposure to colleges. Forte was an all-metro and all-state RB, I believe. He ran for 300 against my team.

Went to school with him. Didn't do much his first two years and blew up junior and senior year. Tore his ACL junior year I believe against west Monroe in the semi finals. Don't know if that had anything to do with it.

Slidell played WM in the quarters that year. They made the semis 2 years later, where they played Evangel.

Shows you talent in LA that second tier guys can make it in NFL. Tulane with Forte and Mewelde Moore (whom Saban did recruit) as well both have had successful NFL careers.

I didn't think he'd be successful. Seemed like every time Tulane played a team with a pulse, he averaged 2 yards a carry.

And now he does stuff like this:

LSU didn't offer him, and he would never have gone to LSU. He isn't a fan of the school.
