Sexy C, this is just a "lets try and make ourselves feel better about what was an embarrassing day" thread.
We are of course worried about next week. North Texas probably isn't as good as we made them look and not as bad as we thought before the game.
I will say this though, having been at the game I can tell you that if there is anything more plain than vanilla, that's what we were running today on the whole...no exotic formations or routes.
We ran a couple of gadget plays, I suspect to see if we are capable of executing them in a real game as opposed to practice. They worked but were damn near to being fricked up on both counts.
Should be a 35-31 type game next week...not sure who wins but you guys look better than we do right now.

No not really, Auburn is the same as last year.
We beat them 38-0 so yeah, we looked good against them too. I'm sure we beat them this year as well. LSU still has yet to be challenged. Next week will be the first time.
I sense over confidence from Unsexy C.
Not even remotely sold on Muttenburger...

Sorry, I don't agree with your premise. I don't think N. Texas could beat any SEC teams. Face it, our OL and special teams just aren't very good. Our secondary will be further exposed and our DL and LB's will likely get bowled over by LSU's running game.

Have you been paying attention?

It's pretty much time for the OL to man up. They seemed pretty lazy out there today. Clearly North Texas took the approach of: "You're going to have to beat us throwing" - which we then did - but we should still be able to impose our will on the ground more than we did today, against a mid-level team.
Our defense can't be trusted, so if OL isn't for real next Saturday....

They'll be fine. They showed against the D-Line in the country a couple of weeks ago. If you people can't tell we were as vanilla as it gets today, then you guys need to re-watch the game. The crowd had no energy, the weather was miserable, and we were playing to prevent injuries.

It can be trusted. they proved that against SouCar, and last year. It was a rough outing against Clemson. N. Texas put a lot of people in the box and then blitzed some. Any way you slice it, we only have 5 OLinemen. (^ if we keep the TE in) We sent running backs out into routes, and most of the time the TEs were out there, too. That left 5 OLinemen to block 5 and sometimes 6 DLinemen. They did fine. We were not going to show much to LSU and felt like we could win without showing them much. And, we did. Our defense looked good against the run up the middle which is HUGE. True, against N. Texas, but nonetheless they stopped them up the middle.
Our problem came from a blocked punt (on a bad snap) and a kickoff return. Take those 14 points away and we have the blowout everybody hoped for and expected. Why everybody on this board (no, not everybody, but many) is beyond me. We have the most pessimistic fan bases in the country, it seems. The sky falls regularly after every game. It doesn't hurt to dissecet a game, and point out what we need to work on, but some of you scream we have to fire a coach after every game. For a coaching staff that regularly wins 10-12 games and wins SEC East Championships, you guys are always ready to fire them. Richt, Bobo and Grantham.
When I played i HATED fans you you guys. Smile at you and pat you on the back and sit up in the stands and whine, cry and complain about the team and coaches when any kind of mistake was made.

Don't waste your breath. I suspect very few on here understand what you are saying. None probably played football at any level past Middle School.

The real problem here is special teams play.

The special teams play was atrocious...no matter how you look at it. Oh and we were 'playing to prevent injury'....bull shite. Gurley had carries late into the fourth, and for the most part, took some pretty nasty shots including one that caused a fumble. frick that logic...we got kicked in the mouth and we expected them to roll over and play dead...and they didn't While I agree we vanillad the gameplan...execution was NOT at all good yesterday. There were only a few bright spots...Murray, except for that terrible fricking endzone pick...was outstanding...and Floyd will be the next Jarvis...Jenkins gets a lot of attention from opposing D's...I expect Floyd to rack up the sacks this year.
But stop giving excuses. Teams like Louisville and Ohio State hung 70 on their respective bitches and we struggled with ours til the fourth. Just dont'

UNT is at the level of a Kentucky. We are going to face 3 top ten teams in 5 weeks and UNT was sandwiched in between all of that.
UNT is no cupcake team that's for sure.
