In a perfect world what would your administration do? Before, and then after they found out.

And what type of trouble should your school get in?

is this a thread where we all pretend the coaches don't wink wink nudge nudge boosters to help land recruits?

it may not happen all the time but it does happen some of the time for sure. and yeah sure agents with an eye to landing a potential NFL client happen as well but that's not what was going on in the recently described Charles Robinson piece - the people involved weren't professional agents with professional credentials.

What the hell is this?

I posed a scenario and asked a question about it. The hell does it have to do with boosters paying players to attend a school?

In a perfect world, my administration would never find out.

In a perfect world, turn them in and kick him off the team because the other teams would do the same. In a world of cheating and a weak NCAA, nothing and tell everyone involved to keep quite about it. Tell the agent if he talks he will go to jail to keep him quite. If it comes up say we investigated it and found nothing.

this is like "campaign finance reform". You can't legislate the influence of money out of anything.

Money will find it's way to influence power. These things are not new and have been going on forever. College football has never been pristine and never will be.

I assume any administrator would "investigate" and then "self report" a bunch of minor deviations; self impose some non-crippling sanctions and hope for the best.

Most importantly, NEVER LIE TO NCAA. Better to be ignorant about shenanigans than to COVER-UP ANYTHING.

I also have a question. It's all complete and in no way does it suggest I want you to answer a certain way.

I'll play but I want you to answer a question.

In a perfect institution it would be known not to take money to begin with because it is considered cheating and could cause the team to lose wins they worked hard for.

Now..

I've seen you mention this as your cornerstone of defense several times I think. My question is do you honestly believe bama (and most programs) really don't ever give recruits money or material things to get on their good sides during recruiting?

Well of course they do. But that has nothing to do with this story.

1st and foremost I would hope the coaches and administration has made it very clear to the players that they should not accept money/benefits from anybody. And if a player did accept money I think they should make the player pay back the money and not let him play until he does. If it takes 3 weeks for him to pay it back, well then he'll miss 3 games. If this happens during the offseason, then just make sure they repay in full before the first game.
