On right now. In questions now. He is mild so far.

Danny dissing A & M defenses. Note Saban has only been beaten back to back once.

Has he said anything about leaving for the Texas job yet?

I caught some of it on ESPNU. I don't usually like to read too much into what coaches say but Saban is VERY easy to read. If he singles out a player for being good you know damn well to expect big things. And when he thinks the team isn't able to live up to expectations he goes on his whole "it's unfair to put these expectations on us" rant...see 2010. He's a no buckshit guy. He seems pretty confident that Alabama should be really good this year.

Who did he single out?

Nobody that I heard today. I was just making an example. Like Cooper last year and CJ before him.

notes from al.com:
•Everybody in the media is doing fine.
•This game is what's great about college football, Saban says.
•The bye week went well, Saban said.
•"If you take care of the cents, the dollars add up."
•The A&M offense is very efficient, do what they do very well.
•Saban says he hears questions about Aggie defense, but he said it looks very good to him. They gave up a few big plays, but doesn't see major flaws. Noted issues Alabama had with them last season.
•The hurry-up tempo is just a matter of life. It means more defensive players need to be ready to go. That was a problem last season, needs to be better this time.
•"We have a lot to prove to go on the road and play a good team."
•They can learn from last year's game, but not the biggest factor in this year's game plan.
•"He's gonna make some plays," Saban said of Manziel.
•He extends a lot of plays to pass, not just to run. He's very instinctive, Saban says and the receivers do a good job adjusting to the routes when he takes off.
•"The guy's gonna make plays now. ... Just don't allow him to make plays because of your mistakes."
•Defenses around the nation are adapting to the up-tempo offenses. They saw it eight or nine times last years. "It's becoming the norm, not the exception."
•Saban said he tried to hire Sumlin once at LSU, would have loved to have him on his staff.
•Alabama respects Manziel as a passer and is very instinctive. Keeping him from running around is huge. So, keep him in the pocket is big. Don't look back at the QB is the message to the defensive backs.
•"You're not going to make him a pocket passer."
•It will be difficult to manage the external of playing in a new place like College Station.
•Their receivers limit things with how to cover them in the spread. Evans does a really good job. "They are every bit as good as they were a year ago."
•Saban can't remember seeing Manziel get "rattled" in a game. He grew into responsibilities a year ago as a redshirt freshman starter.
•"He is a fierce competitor."
•Doesn't sound like Saban would have chosen to take a bye week after one game, but they did their best to take advantage. It would be optimal to take one mid-season.
•"It is what it is."
•It did give the Tide a little extra time to prep for A&M.
•Saban doesn't like trash talk. He doesn't like his players to do that.
•"People who get emotional don't make the best decisions."
•"That part of the game, I have no use for."
•Will Alabama spy Manziel? Saban doesn't think they have someone who can, but CJ Mosley could be the guy.
•Saban not worried about having enough time to sub during the hurry-up offense.
•Coming off LSU win last year is no excuse for poor early-game performance against A&M.
•NEWS: On Dalvin Tomlinson: He will miss the year after Friday surgery. It will be 4-5 months in rehab. "He's done everything right since he's been here." Click here for a full story.
•It wasn't just offense or just defense that troubled Alabama early last year. It was a team problem.

Expecting lot of fronts to have all three of Hubbard, Devall, and Dickson.
