This is probably the last year we won't see that happen. With that new playoff system, 2 SEC teams are bound to make the top 4. No more 42-14 shite Looking forward to some good football in the future.

If that really happened, I wonder if the other conferences will just quit football all together?

Agreed. Maybe one year the governing bodies will force one of us out of the playoffs to try and see someone else not in the SEC.

I may be in the minority here, but I believe games like LSU vs. Alabama in the 2012 title game are bad for the sport. If a 4-team playoff sees two SEC teams going at it in the finals year after year, I truly believe college football will begin to lose popularity.

I think the SEC's dominance over the last seven years or so is a contributing factor to declining attendance.

Agreed. But frick um. This is our sport, and we will continue to control it. They need to step their game up already and stop complaining about us.

If anything the SEC dominance pushes other programs to be better.

You know football was played before 2006 right? I mean yeah, the SEC is on a historical, unprecedented run, but it's not gonna last forever.

I disagree. I understand the argument for the Oklahoma States in 2011 who have the same number of losses as the number 2 team, but with the playoff, they really have no excuse. To win a ring, you have to beat the best team. And if the people reject it because their team didn't win enough, is it supposed to be the SEC's fault?

You would see a "No two teams from the same conference" rule after the second year.

It is bad for the sport.

It is going to happen.

The thing that will help keep it from happening as often is the SECCG since the East and West are getting pretty even again.

I bet the selection committee will put us in the same bracket so it doesn't happen

Don't be too sure. Things have changed, players are more willing to leave their state to play, exposure has never been like today, and the SEC has consolidated resources (money, coaching talent, players, etc) as a whole greater than any conference ever has.

Just because things have been cyclical in the past does not mean that will always be.

It is the top 4 teams, but it hasn't been confirmed (at least not that I know of) that it's going to be 1 v. 4 and 2 v. 3. I don't think they are. Since the Rose Bowl is going to be in the rotation, they're going to make sure the Pac 12 and Big Ten get in there, so they don't end up with SEC v. Big 12. That would be a CFB tragedy in their mind

You will see 3 SEC teams in the playoffs eventually.

Then they will change the rules.

I think that the media fap fest over getting bama and lsu in the NC signaled the downfall of college football. The 2 best teams played, and that is the road map for the future. 2 SEC teams and the rest can go frick themselves. Next on the Sport media to do list is to swing the populous into believing that the PAC 12 are legit
