Reveille VII, Texas A&M University’s mascot that was retired in 2008, died Thursday after being hospitalized earlier in the week and undergoing emergency surgery. She was 12 ½ years old.

Paul Gardner, a 1966 A&M graduate and semi-retired financial planner, said Reveille enjoyed about an extra year of good health because she had received treatment for arthritis.

"She was Reveille right up to the end," he said.
Here.

Yes, she was a little cray cray, but who could blame her since she was forced to watch Aggie football during our darkest days.

I will be pouring one out for Old Rev when I visit Kyle Field in the fall.

Cause of death: Fran

Seems to be a common trend. V was epileptic, VI bit everything she saw...

Little Debbie didn't kill Reveille VII, but he certainly made her arse quit. Poor Rev, she deserved so much better.

Actually it was VI that was the epileptic, V was probably the best dog we've had health and behavior wise, other than a few surgeries for common issues and arthritis.

Background: My grandparents took care of one of the Revs after she retired. I got to play with VI when she was a puppy. Her sister drowned in a swimming pool during a seizure from the epilepsy that ran in their line.

Here. Her manic demeanor on the sideline was perfect for the era of Aggie Football that she observed.

That's cool.

I didn't open any of the threads on the other board about it but my cold heart was wondering if anyone outside of E2 was genuinely mournful, or if I was supposed to be.

I actually remember people crying at two of the funerals I went to. Even with my connection to them, they are just dogs. It's sad but nothing to cry about, especially if you didn't interact with them on a daily basis.

ETA: Should add that for the most part our mascots have lived long full lives. If you look at some of the other schools that have dogs as their mascot, we have been very fortunate in how strong ours have been. Georgia has had a shite ton of UGAs.

Wasn't there a 20+ year gap between Reveille I and Reveille II?
