Certificate of need is such bullshite anyway. Birmingham and Jefferson County are gonna be waste lands by the time the politicians get through.....

People get the government they want, particularly on the local level. Birmingham and JeffCo are in the mess they're in because of the people they continue to elect.

Never doubted it would go any other way. There was no reason for the 280 hospital to become a decaying relict

Although, part of the county's problem is that it's eating itself alive by competing for the same businesses. To me that stymies growth in the area because your just moving from one city to another with no diversity or growth.

At one time there was talk of a VA hospital going there, similar to Walter Reed which I think would have been a great addition for the area. Plus, I'm sure UAB would be happy to gobble up the rest the existing hospital as they have done with the majority of the Southside.
