Your point?

I was actually on the Barbee bandwagon, too, when he was hired. He was one of the "up-and-comers" I wanted to get the job. But I'm just a fan. Jay Jacobs does extensive research and gets paid a crapload of money to hire good coaches, and he's missed on Chizik, Barbee and Pawlowski. And then, with Alabama reeling off 3 of the last 4 national titles and our football program in desperate need of a proven winner, he goes out and hires Gus freakin' Malzahn.

Jay Jacobs is single-handedly running our athletics department in the ground, but like I've said before, Gogue deserves just as much blame for keeping this clown around.

Hold on, you're mad at him for missing on what were good hires (except for Chizik)? You don't know how they were going to turn out, and neither did Jacobs.

And you don't know how Malzahn will turn out.

My point is that he hasn't made bad hires, just ones that were praised at the beginning but didn't work out in the end. So why do you think Jacobs will hire a terrible coach if Barbee is gone?

Jacobs doesn't get a pass because he THOUGHT the hires were good at the time only to turn out terrible. Of course Jacobs thought they were good at the time. Otherwise, he wouldn't have hired them. Utlimately, an AD is only as good as the coaches he hires, and Jacobs has shown to be completely incompetent in trying to bring in coaches to get us back in the upper echelon of the conference.

See Gene Chizik. See John Pawlowski. See Gus Malzahn. The verdict's still out on the new women's bball coach.

And you can fool yourself if you want, but we're not going to compete for SEC titles in football with Malzahn as our coach. Bowl games? Sure. Championships? No.

And most Auburn people. But that's a minor detail.

Wow, you can say that before Malzahn coaches one game? Mr. Psychic, please tell me what job I'll have in five years.

The fact that you've equated Malzahn with Chizik already shows how laughable your opinion is.

Want their coach. Really like him. I'd say go after Butler's, but i think there is 0% chance he leaves there right now.

I don't know if Malzahn will win championships or not. However, I also don't feel the need to call it either way. I'm guessing you're the type who stays negative so you're never disappointed. Luckily for me it doesn't effect my life either way.

Same here. I don't know what's going to happen with Auburn football this year, much less Malzahn's entire tenure.

This dude sounds like the prototypical Auburn defeatist.

Also remember, Malzahn was hired based on a "unanimous decision" by the committee. Lol so it wasn't all Jacobs if you go by that. I'm on the Gus Bus tho don't care who else isn't.

When you get paid lots of money you are paid that money to get the tough calls right. In the corporate world, if you hire as many failures as Jacobs has, you would be gone. I don't care if they seemed good but didn't turn out, he gets paid a lot of money to hire people that do turn out. How anyone can remotely defend Jay Jacobs is mind blowing and is more Auburn defeatist than doubting Malzahn IMO.

I think most people agree with this. We all know Jacobs needs to go, just a matter of when at this point.

All I'm saying is that he made one bad hire at the outset, and we won a national title with him.

Barbee has not panned out.
Pawlowski hasn't (I guess).
Williams-Flournoy had a real bad stretch this season, but there are some signs that point to success in the future.
No one knows how Malzahn will be just yet.

That's two bad calls (really don't know about Pawlowski), one bad call that got Auburn a title before a total collapse, and two "too early to calls".

Jacobs isn't 100% at fault for every team underperforming this year. The mob mentality is so strong when it comes to Jacobs. Everyone just forgets what good things have happened under him and says that whatever he does next will be a disaster.

Do I think that Auburn could benefit from an AD besides Jacobs and should make a change? Yes.

Do I think that there's too much blame being thrown on him? Yes.

Fair points. I'm just so sick of shitty Auburn athletics across the board.

Danny Kaspar at Stephen F. Austin. 417–174 as a coach and has SFU at 23–3 this year.

Has only made the tournament once in his career, half of those wins came at Incarnate Word, who was in the NAIA when he was there. Fifty-eight years old and has only been in the state of Texas. I'll pass on this guy.

Have to admit that was a good article. I am BB dumb and was mostly kidding with both posts. I really am a follower when it comes to BB. If everyone is saying Barbee is a bust I believe them. It looks like this guy needs a shot somewhere, but may never get it.
