Is he a 3-4 DE or a 4-3 DE?

I wonder if his recruitment comes down to where he wants to play on the field.

I think one of the big reasons RN didn't really consider UGA and Bama bec they run the 3-4. Same with Mario Williams last year as well come to think of it.

What say you ranters?

He could be a SDE in a 3-4/4-3. He has the frame IMO.

They all had the frames to play in a 3-4. They just didn't want to. I think Hand will end up playing in a 4-3

He's smaller side, but a huge upper body and long arms, he's heavier wt than he looks since he is cut up almost all muscle

Compares a little to Lemonier from AU, has that dip and lean, a little leaner than Carl Lawson, but also very similar

To me he's nowhere near a 3 man DE, more like an Clay Matthews/Von Miller OLB rush specialist

Agree... When Rivals does his NFL player comparison next January it wouldn't surprise me if they compare Hand to VM

As for his recruitment, I think it is going to be hard for any team to pull him and Peppers out of state. I think they both end up at VT.

I don't like that he has played a lot inside in a state like Virginia. it's a brilliant ploy as a team, but it puts a little doubt in my mind about him playing RE.

He was 257 August of last year, so that 245 listed weight isn't accurate. He's still growing, and Bama has had some preliminary talks with him about play end on an odd front depending on how he fills out his Senior year.

But the correct answer is, whatever type Bud Foster wants him to be...

Bama has a GREAT shot at Hand, not as good with Peppers

Signing a few Northern kids in each class, Johnathan Hand (even though he was originally from Anniston) helps the cause for Bama

Didn't realize he was that big, looks a lot leaner imho, just all muscle I guess moves very well for that weight

Yeah, Hand said he was 257 on TI Radio last August in an interview. He's probably at least 260 now.

Jabrill ... I realize I misspoke when I said OOS for him even though he lives in NJ. I still think he ends up at VT either way with OSU having a good shot.
