I don't think nfl teams care about all time wins.

Okay, let's regroup:
1. I am ignorant to the details of the NFL. I am not an NFL fan, and I clearly chose a bad example with the Saints.
BUT
2. Clearly, the NFL is not interested in penalizing the teams for the actions of players, unless it is clear and unavoidable. The NCAA is willing to sacrifice the program for the actions of former players. I think you'd have a hard time arguing against this.

Actually, my self worth is based specifically on Alabama kicking the crap out of Ole Miss every year, so there's no danger of any inferiority complexes over here any time soon.
The funny part is you're probably being serious.
Sidewalkers gonna sidewalk I guess

No, the really funny part is your believing that this "self-worth" argument applies to Alabama but not Ole Miss.
The only difference between our fans' self worth in relation to their football team is that there are more of ours...for obvious reasons.

Actually, players in the NCAA who fail drug tests or PED tests are suspended as individuals. The team isn't punished. The only way you'd find the team punished is if the coaches were encouraging it, supplying it, arranging it, etc etc. So it is a lot like the NFL.
Yep.

ONLY deranged Notre Dame fans and Manti Teo would believe this spray could affect the game.
You do realize the spray works the same in the body as human growth hormone, right? If any player took this on a regular basis, they would be abnormally strong.
I'd say that gives those players an unfair advantage, wouldn't you?

You do realize the spray doesn't work, don't you? Unless, perhaps, you happen to be a football playing deer.

Yeah ok. I believe you just because you said so.

That's a pretty dumb statement. The substance converts to the same thing that HGH does in the liver. Deer antlers are some of the fastest growing organic matter on the planet, and are loaded with IGF-1.
quote:
IGF-1 is "just like giving someone human growth hormone," Don Catlin, the former head of UCLA's Olympic Analytical Lab, told The New York Times. "It goes to the same kinds of receptors and turns them on."

From the same article:
quote:
However, as SI reports, the spray may not even be effective in humans. Dr. Roberto Salvatori, who studies growth hormone at Johns Hopkins University, told the Baltimore Sun that there's no evidence of a successful way to deliver IGF-1 in pill or spray form.

Which doesn't mean it doesn't work. It just means there haven't been sufficient trials to confidently say it does.
It is also on the NCAA's banned substance list, so all of this is a moot point, anyways.

Anyways, this is a pretty good example of biased assimilation.
People who are highly involved with a group (in this case, a fanbase) are more likely to discard pieces of information that threaten their pre-existing opinions.

You completely surprised me. When I saw the title, I thought that this would be some kind of Alabama justification and declaration that it doesn't matter.
I have no idea if it matters or not. Honestly, I don't care.
But, your post had substance and wasn't any kind of dodge at all. Good post and good question.
As for your question, I think that you are right. I also think that when cheating happens, the coaches responsible should be punished far more than the program. There are kids there who didn't know anything about rules violations and they and the fans are the ones who suffer.
I get that the NCAA tries to go after a "culture" of corruption instead of just individuals. But, I think that some of that needs to change.

quote:what is funny is that both of those schools had players doing the same thing. They're only doing it because it makes people like Bama54 lose his shite.
Who is hating on us? It's a non-story anywhere outside of a few Auburn and LSU fans on this board.

Thanks, Alatiger. We get so caught up janking on each other here that it's hard to recognize a legit thread sometimes.

oh no, i totally agree. when i said "period" i was more referring to how true that was, not that THAT was necessarily the only piece to the puzzle.
and i like your angle too, btw.

Understood.
This is the first time I ever remember such a situation where both the NCAA and NFL were dealing with basically the same issue. It will be interesting to see where they land.

Thank God, it's Troll-a-tubby. I was afraid we might accidentally break into a legit discussion here, but Fawx will save us from that.
