Gabe DeArmond is hearing that UVA is between Oregon and Missouri for filling the final game of the schedule.

Now I have been hard on Pinkel. But if we play UVA instead of a patsy, I can give him a little more leeway if we are judging him at the end of the year. Especially if we win. I would have more respect of that then playing Indiana, AA, and two MAC teams. I think getting a win over an ACC team like UVA then an up and coming team like Indiana could be used as well needed momentum for a new starter like Maty Mauk or a newly confident James Franklin to get in the rhythm before the Gauntlet hits. At least if we play UVA, Indiana, and Vandy by the end of that stretch you will know what you have in Pinkel, instead of a cakewalk and the question is still out there. The staff intended on getting a Sun Belt or MAC team, but I have a lot of respect for the no hiding approach we might be forced into.

I give them their credit for scheduling an ACC team and a Big 10 team for 2 of their OOC games. Having said that I think both teams were 4-8 last year. I like playing teams from the bigger conferences but frankly UCF was probably a better team.

A win vs UVA would be popular with our SEC East bretheren

Very true, but we'll still be yankees in their eyes.

I love the UVA idea! That would be ideal!

Can't fault them for that choice, but still a disappointment for our program.

I am a little disappointed to. If Pinkel is our guy going forward, I want him to earn it. Not back into the job because we beat enough scrubs but have a losing record in conference. Whatever. Alden has a 77,000 stadium to sell in 2014. If he thinks 6-6/7-5 with another losing SEC record is going to sell that, then Idk what to say.

Memphis is now off the board as well. Lookout for Ark State or AA. Doubt BYU although that's my pick

They are. I was unclear. For next season, Memphis was a potential team that we could schedule for our final game. They have now filled their slot also. That is what I meant. I get the thought "Why would we play them again?", but at this point we are running out of options.

Here's hoping UNLV develops a hole in their schedule and are willing to pay for an easy home win.
