Doing my best not to troll here, but looking at these two kids and wondering if one was on a better team and therefore got more hype, or whether it just took Ridley a little bit longer for the egg-timer to go off.

Remember that Ridley left as a RS Junior and Ingram as a true Junior, so he's actually a tad bit oler than Ingram.

Yes I understand that this will inevitably devolve into a flame-fest/sh!t-show. But I'm hoping I can sift through the BS and find some decent discussion here.

My personal opinion is that Ridley could've been just as hyped were he the alpha-back in 2009 or 2010 at Bama splitting carries in T-Town. But I also think Ingram could've been very productive at LSU.

Just think that Ridley would've gone higher than 3rd round had he played on a more productive, more hyped and successful team in Alabama during that two year window.

Thoughts?

Who really gives a crap at this point? One won a national title and a Heisman. As a fan of that team, that's all I care about.

"We might have lost two in a row to Alabama, but our players would be better in their system than their players."

Is this really the low we've reached?

Both have a very similar skill set IMHO. Ingram got the benefit of playing for an undefeated national champion and subsequent Heisman

Don't confuse arrogance with honesty.

It's a stupid question.

No, I'm wondering which player was actually better in college. Was Ingram the superior talent or was Ridley? Or was it a case of Ridley developing moreso than Ingram has post-college career?

Was it a case of Ingram being surrounded by superior talent and/or coaching?

I tend to lean to the last theory as an explanation.

I thought the only stupid questions were the ones which weren't asked?

That's very easy: Ingram was a lot, like a lot, better in college. /trhead

Even though this is clearly a compliment to the Alabama program as a whole, you won't get any serious replies from these people because you dared to insinuate that a player from another team could be as good as one of theirs. How dare you.

Bama players get more hype because ESPN hates LSU.

Well its safe to say that Ingram was better in college since he won an award that is given to that seasons best college player.

Obviously both guys are talented. The started for two premier programs in the SEC and made it to the league. Both are products of their respective teams in both college and the NFL.

In 2010 Ridley rushed for 1147 yards and 19 touchdowns on 249 carries for 4.6 yard average.

Ingram rushed for 875 yards and 13 touchdowns on 158 carries for 5.5 yards. If he gets more carries he gets more yards but average would go down more than likely as well.

Maybe Ingram was better in college due to better coaching and better system.

Maybe Ridley is better in the pros due to better coaching and better system.

Leading into the 09 season, a lot of "experts" felt like it was a down year for running backs in the SEC. Many considered Ridley the best back in the conference going into the season. I still don't think he would have had the same season Ingram had, though. That year it seemed like the game just slowed down for Ingram. He just was great at setting up his blocks and knowing where to run.
