I took a year off after I tore my pec muscle. Got up to 250 before starting back running and lifting the middle of October. Just got through taking another two weeks off for the holidays before hitting it hard again this afternoon.
I run 4 miles and do abs on tue, thur, sun. Then lift on mon, wed, fri. Like the results I've seen from doing that and eating a healthy diet. Down to 230. Shooting for around 210.

Used to weigh 358.
Used Dr. Supervised Weight loss program in NWA for 1 year to drop weight.
Walked 2-3 miles per day
800 calories drinking/eating the prescribed shakes, soups, and puddings.
Shakes are 200 calories with 25 grams of protein and 10 carbs per product.
Must be supervised. Weekly class and weigh in with vitals taken
Monthly Dr. Visit
EKG and bloodwork every three months or 50 pounds lost.
Chose this rout instead of surgery.
Cost me average of 500 per month to do program.

Damn!! Way to go!!!!
This is what I needed to read.
I am five months post partum and just now feeling like getting back at it hard. I had it in my head I would be up to it 6 weeks PP. Yeah freaking right!!! Lol.
Im only 8 lbs away from my target weight but no where close to how I want it all to look again.
Gonna get there!

That's awesome
So, does your skin shrink back? Ive always wondered this.
You see on tv shows people lost like 200lbs and have to have skin surgery or some sort.

that is amazing, hawgwash.
i would think losing it as he did and with exercising too would help the skin issue. i have a friend who had gastric bypass probably 10 or so years ago now and bless her heart. she's beautiful but her skin is awful. she's small boned tho- and i know haha on that but seriously, tiny skinny hands and wrists, etc. and skinny face etc. so being built that way may only cause the skin issue to be worse.

I need to attend that camp!!!
Go to south padre. I was there when 7 months pregnant. Easily the smallest person there.

I was pretty proud of myself - aside from the pushups, I did every rep.
There were 5 us in the class (it's at my gym) - 2 of us were regulars, but the class used to be a low impact strength training class. They changed it to a boot camp at the beginning of the year. The other 3 ladies...well, I hope for their sake they'll come back, but I won't be surprised if they don't.
The best thing was all the new people in yoga yesterday. There was this girl, probably 10-15 years younger than me and I would guess a size 2 or 4. The look on her face when this older, fatter woman got into these yoga positions better than her was awesome!

Into day 4 of my post-Christmas lean out routine. HIIT kettlebell workouts and mobility/flex exercises daily with one day of the 4 major lifts so far.
At about 1200 calories per day, which is about an 800 calorie deficit from my BMR. Should start seeing some pounds and gut come off soon.
Hoping to be the leanest I've been in years at 180 lbs. by Spring Break.

Be careful, 1200 calories for someone your height seems really low to me. Your BMR might be 2000 but you burn more than that per day just from being awake and active. You're going to shed weight fast, but maybe a little too fast. BMR is the absolute floor for an inactive organism.
edit: if you go overboard with cutting calories, you may end up with overtraining symptoms and muscular atrophy.

I'll probably level out soon and go a little more conservative with the calorie cutting. I'm kind of shocking my system right now (and punishing myself for the holiday gluttony).

Exercise is terrible. I was playing some basketball with cousins on my annual trip back to Texas on Saturday...went up for a layup and slipped on the wet asphalt. Now I'm in an immobilizer because my knee got all kinds of fricked up. MRI tomorrow. Getting old sucks.

Thanks, SLC.
Official diagnosis is a completely torn patella tendon. Having surgery in the morning and then I've got a couple of months (according to the doc) before I will be able to walk normally. Boooooooooooo.

Nice job, Hawgwash.
Not sure if it's been mentioned on here, but Isopure Zero carb protein shake is the bomb. I don't even do a full dose (2 scoops), but if you are doing a low carb type diet it's the tits. You can buy in a 5 gallon bucket from Amazon.
50g protein per shake plus glutamine, vitamin and minerals, and no lactose or gluten.

Anyone have advice on the best way to heal a strained muscle? Two, actually - hamstring and back. Heat? Ice? Should I rest for a few days or keep working out but favor them?
