SEC fans: What is the difference in this Bama team and last year's NC team?

This is really for teams that played both this years and last year's teams - not Mizzou and TAMU. My opinion and the thing that worries me the most - the D, specifically the secondary. Against good teams, later in the year, the DBs (other than Miliner) and Safeties have struggled against the pass - regardless of the threat of a running QB. Thoughts?

Better Oline. Secondary is good but occasionally gives up some plays. Pass rush isn't as good without upshaw.

Eta: Sunseri has been a liability in coverage.

Last year's defense was so much better.

This years defense averaged giving up 416 YPG to A&M, Georgia, and LSU (the only good teams they played all year).

This year's team actually deserves to play for the championship.

I thought Lester was supposed to be one of the best players on our team in pass defense and its like he took a back seat this year, and sunseri is a great run defender but the pass makes him look confused.

Upshaw, Hightower and Barron

Upshaw and Barron seemed to make a play when we needed it.

Our offense is more balanced this year.

Sunseri and Perry couldn't cover for shite, but still played almost all year.

No dominant pass rusher, but still an above average pass rush with Hubbard showing that next year will be his year.

Better offense by far.

Better ST.

The rest of the conference is better.

Not as good as the '09 & '11 teams, but still may be good enough to win a Natty. That would be fine with me.

This year's team went through the pipeline to get there rather than send their coach to cry on national tv that they deserve it..:beatdeadhorse:

also the defense this year isnt as well with the pass rush ....

Well, from the perspective of an LSU fan, our passing game got better while your secondary got worse. Even Milliner struggled against LSU.

That was offset, unfortunately, by McCarron's clutch performance at the end of each half. LSU actually shut down McCarron during the normal offensive sets. McCarron and Alabama scored twice during 2 minute offenses at the end of each half.

Gotta give credit to AJ, he was pretty clutch in the game. However, Bama's defense this year is not what it was last year. Also, I think there is more parity in the SEC overall this year.

I'll bite. LSU didn't deserve to play for an NC in 2007.

Yeah, that's the only reason Bama was in the game between the two best teams - well, at least one team was best.
