Waiting for spot in NCAA - Louisville or Columbus would be great but yet another year where they send the Cats to BFE may be the reality. Notre Dame will get Columbus in all probability and I am guessing they drop Purdue closer to home before they put UK closer to home. Will be interesting to see where they place Dayton with that loss

a) I was right about them putting Purdue close to home as they put them in YUM.
b) I was right they would send us far east or west as they sent us to Queens
c) I was wrong about Notre Dame (and all the more reason to put us in Columbus) as they got Norfolk but since they are joining the ACC this summer I guess it does make some sense

27-5 overall 13-3 in conference

Regular season over. Teams ahead of the Cats in the rankings with key non conference games :

# 1 Baylor (32-1) - Lost to Stanford @ home. beat UK, UT, ND, and Uconn.
# 2 Notre Dame (21-1) - Lost @ Baylor. Beat UT, UCLA, TAMU, Ohio State.
# 3 Uconn (29-4) - Lost @ Notre Dame (2x) and Baylor. Beat TAMU, Purdue, Maryland, Penn State, Stanford, and Duke.
# 4 Stanford (31-2) - Lost to Uconn and Cal. Beat Baylor, South Carolina, and UT.
# 5 Cal (28-3) - Getting much love for beating Stanford. Lost @ Duke in only Top 25 non conference game.
# 6 Duke (30-2) - Suspect schedule. Nuked by Uconn / lost @ Miami. Beat Cal @ home in only Top 25 non conference win.
# 7 Kentucky (27-5) - Lost @ #1 Baylor, beat #13 UL @ YUM, and beat DePaul @ RUPP. Finished #2 in SEC. Only losses were to Top 25 teams and 3 of the 4 losses were on the road. The only home loss was to #12 UGA

I tend to think the SEC may be the best overall conference in the nation this year yet little love to show for it in the polls. Only UK is solidly in the Top 10 but still does not get the love of a possible #1 or #2 seed. Interesting as Duke and Notre Dame both chose not to renew their games with UK this season but will renew next season, yet they are ranked above UK for not scheduling them. (UK would have played @ Duke this season and Notre Dame would have come to Memorial - I suspect that is why we played DePaul this year in their place)

Sounds great. We haven't been to a game yet, but are big fans of the ladies team, and hope to go to a game or two this season, especially the UT game at the end of the season.
Looking forwards to your updates!

Better get your tickets now as that game is already selling well and could be SOLD OUT maybe a month before the game. Last year 4 games sold out and most were the sunday games. The game with the Vols last year was middle of the week and earlier in the season. This year it is on a sunday and the last home game of the season for the seniors.

Well attended games last season -
Louisville - SOLD OUT for sunday game
Tennessee - SOLD OUT for thursday game
Florida - SOLD OUT for sunday game
Alabama - SOLD OUT for sunday game
Ole Miss and South Carolina were close to sold out
Vandy would have been better but it was moved to 9pm on monday and that killed attendance

Auburn vs UK this Sunday. Time for BBN to sell the place out. So far the Cats are off to their best season in history and they just demolished State in Memorial the other night. If you are BBN you may need to make plans to return to New Orleans come tournament time.

Where are you sitting? (general area not specific seats) as the Sunday games can be the sold out ones. If you do not already have tickets you could get stuck in GA.

Since you are a WCBB guru, what's up with Becca Greenwell from Owensboro? Did we recruit her?

Yes we did and I thought we had her as this was her original list :

Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisville, Tennessee and Vanderbilt.

Then she suddenly put Notre Dame and Duke on her list. I can get the Irish as they had Natalie who was doing very well and came out of Lexington Catholic but Duke is another story. As she was the #6 player in the country it would have been great to see her play in the SEC but having her play for Duke now is about as bad as it gets. I guess we will just have to beat Duke with what we have.

**** puts on tin foil conspiracy hat ****

The SEC and Big East have much stronger WCBB and the B1G, PAC, and B 12 all have very strong teams yet watching ESPN coverage for the past 5 years or so you would think the ACC had the banners Tennessee, Uconn, Stanford, and others have actually won. Just as Pat had a falling out with Geno over Uconn using ESPN's HQ in Bristol as a recruiting tool for Uconn players it sure feels like the ACC (and Duke in particular) gets way more love than they deserve from ESPN. These are still teenage kids and ESPN is where the kids tune in,

This season Duke is undefeated but they have played a very weak schedule to this point. The game with Uconn on the 21st will be their first real test of the season and we are already well into conference play. The Duke schedule is backloaded with the better games coming late in the season. On top of this we beat Duke last season in the preseason yet the polls still had them above us and the refs at Cameron are the 6th man for the women as they are for the men.

I will agree that Duke is a good school but it would not surprise me if ESPN did not help Duke land her.

**** removes tinfoil hat ****

The bigger issue was Elzy being hired by the Vols and Mercedes Russell switching from UK to UT. Considering how long these kids are recruited and Elzy was primary recruiter it means the Vols now have the 3-5 year pipeline on who UK was recruiting. I have no idea how a coaching contract does not have a non compete clause to prevent something like this from happening. When Butts left UK she went to the PAC which meant a whole different recruiting poll is a far away conference.

Didn't she have a knee injury? Did we back off? I just find it hard to believe that a girl who seems to be such a big UK fan would pass on us if we wanted her. Also do you live here in Lex?

I believe she was injured but would make full recovery. If we backed off it would be the first I have heard of it and based discussions with those closer to the program than I this would be a real surprise to me. Just the fact the Cards and Vols had her on their radar makes it seem as tho UK would not want the competition to get her.

Even if we were to pass on her it seems like Notre Dame would have the better inside track than Duke. Not only did Natalie play for the Irish but they would also be much closer so her friends and family could actually attend games. Throw in Muffet McGraw and her success in WCBB and the Irish seem like the no brainer to going to Duke. That is why I did the tinfoil option in the post above as to why she went Duke over Notre Dame. Duke makes the least sense of all the options she had available unless there is something that would explain it.

As for my domicile....

wherever he laid his hat was his home"

I have family in Lex and spend time there. As this is a public board do not want to disclose too much. It is a good possibility you can find me at baseball games.

The better question is if Mike knows me.

Seriously, I have probably seen him but have never met him officially that I am aware of.

I'm pretty sure if you've been on the deck during SEC games you have most definitely heard us.

The player who had the parents who tailgated over there so if you were in that crowd you probably saw me or at least some cousins. Usually I am in the stands and only make it to the deck pre game or post game. Hoping for good things.

Did you walk over and look at the new track as they were building it last season? They did a big upgrade to softball as well. I got to a few of those games last season.
