Are ppl serious with this support for BVG? I understand he needs better players, but this defense was atrocious this year. Wet only got worse as the year went on. And again, he can't defend a spread.
I won't have a problem if the new HC wants to give him a shot, but I won't shed a tear if he is told to hit the road.

BVG has one bad year of defense on his resume and that's under Chizik, no coincidence there.

Sorry, but no way VanGorder started a sporadic suckfest out of nowhere.

Please tell me you are smarter than that.

What makes anyone think that ol Bobby wouldn't skip out I the dead of night for a better job, leaving only a note behind for his memory?

Like I have said before, If you think Auburn should bring in Petrino just to win football games, then you don't know Auburn, at all.

All of this is speculation and I will admit there is a risk he will leave in the middle of the night but
1. He seems to have enjoyed his time here previously
2. He might have learned from his mistakes. Sometimes it takes negative consequences to change your ways which he never really had before this last scandal.
3. There aren't many better jobs than Auburn. Even the ones that are out there might not want him with his baggage.

Spare me this shite.
Half the reason I hope we hire him is to trim some of the fat when it comes to our fan base.

This is ridiculous. That's ALL it's about. Gene Chizik got fired just two years removed from a national title because he didn't WIN.
This is all about trying to keep up with 'Bama, trying to keep up with the rest of the SEC and winning.
Preach all the morality you want to, but don't act like this is about anything other than winning. That's all it's about. Take this crap somewhere else.

So you're one of those fans. At Auburn the priority list is Winning, Graduating, then everything else. You're fooling yourself if you think it's different.

We woulda kept Chizik if we cared more about family, 'God', and morals than winning

Sure if he was really living by those morals and standards he espoused. From the reports coming out he had double standards. Chizik is a good person overall, but it sounds like he lost his way with the kids between 2010 and today.

They fired his arse because he went 3-9. No one gave a shite about double talk when the wins were coming in. Unless we are to believe he changed his colors this year.

I'm probably one of those hated, soccer mom moral fans...but winning comes first. That's what the head coach is hired to do.
I really appreciate Chizik being a classy guy with some great character, but our team flat-out sucked. If you're not winning, people don't care how nice of a guy you are.
This program desperately needs wins and discipline. Chizik wasn't going to give you that.
My issues with Petrino have very little to do with his scandal. I'm a firm believer in giving folks another chance. I'm afraid he's not going to be real loyal and skip out on us whenever he feels like it, out of the blue. I'm afraid we would look like Arkansas...some good years, maybe a BCS bowl, then, for whatever reason, he gone. I don't trust him.
At the end of the day, I have a handful of guys I'd pick over Petrino because of this. I don't think JJ has it in him to hire Bobby, but who knows what'll happen?
Just know that the most important thing about getting a new HC is putting us in a position to be a top program in the country again, competing with Alabama and LSU and playing in the big games.

Settle down bro. Of course he was fired for 3-9 along with other issues. Get off of your high horse in here. and stop acting like an a-hole.

Where is he going to go? I've seen a lot of fans say they're scared of BP being hired because of the fear of him bolting, but where else is there for him to go? If he can come in here and win 9-10 games a year and compete with Bama, he'd be on cloud nine. Don't know how many better jobs Petrino could realistically get than Auburn. And to be honest, I think the bolting thing is blown out of proportion. He's only left one team, and that was because he knew he belonged in the college game. Could he have handled it differently? Absolutely. But he made the move for his career.

I would venture to say this hire isn't 100% JJ's decision, which, if true, doesn't make a whole lot of sense. If you need former players to form a committee around your AD in order to help him hire a coach, then why is your AD employed in the first place? But whatever. Just bring in a top-tier coach.

This won't happen if we hire the likes of Malzahn, Jimbo Fisher, Charlie Strong or any other non-proven commodity.

Jimbo Fisher
When did being 29-10 with two division championships and one 2nd place finish in 3 years become bad? Now understand I am not advocating we hire Fisher, just need clarification.

It's the level of competition. Fisher recruits at a very high level, coaches in a very weak conference and still can't dominate the ACC like he should. The only competition in his division is an overrated Clemson team, and he's going out and losing to the likes of N.C. State, Wake Forest, etc. Not to mention he just got housed by a top-tier SEC team, and those are the kinds of teams he'd be dealing with on a weekly basis here at Auburn.
Like I've said before, I'm not saying Jimbo is a bad coach. He's at least shown he can develop his talent. But hiring Jimbo is a bigger gamble than some are willing to admit.
