TAMU LSU Game Facts JM and TAMU Efficiency

JM had an 84 passer rating vs LSU
TAMU averaged 3.6 ypc.
JM had 27 yards rushing.
Compare away Bama vs LSU defense.
Good Luck AGGIES stopping lacy and yeldon. You don't stop the run. You will lose. Bama will control the clock.
If you don't run. You will lose. Bama's defense will pin their ears back and maul the qb. Their DBs are faster than your receivers except belue maybe.

Tired of all the other threads that was stating the Heisman performance and offensive showcase TAMU did to LSU.
The difference in both QBs are:
AJM took that game from LSU.
JM gave the game to LSU.

Sounds like you think Bama is better than LSU.

Glad you're one that can admit the better team won 2 of the last 3 times y'all played. Those other pusses making excuses are annoying

Not at all. The better team did not win on Saturday. Lsu has stunk it up so far this year due to injuries. they can't say they have been the most consistent team this year. Last year LSU was the better team overall going into both of those games. The second game should not have been against Bama fwiw. You shouldn't get redos and college football.
Lsu has been the better program the last eight years.

as i've repeatedly said, sumlin needs to learn how to win the SEC. his present offense ain't gonna hack it, even when the JM guy matures. maybe, if they obtain an elite defense like lsu, florida and bama they can, with some breaks, win one before he leaves but don't bet the farm on it. history is very clear as to results when pro style teams at the top meet spread style teams. sure, some spread teams have prevailed (florida and auburn) but they knew how to run the football and control the clock when they needed to.

A&M is 10th in the nation in rushing offense.

We don't have the horses right now to consistently beat the elite teams in the conference, but that has more to do with a lack of depth than it does the system.

re: TAMU LSU Game Facts JM and TAMU Efficiency

A&M rushed for over 350 the last two weeks in a row. They have also shown they can get the tough yards with their run game, against LSU A&M had 2 TD's that were short yardage "mano y mano" runs. Ben Malena and Christine Michael are also about as physical at RB as anyone in the SEC, they love to hit people and run over them.

It is simply a myth that A&M doesn't run the ball and run it well. You don't have to be in the I Formation or Wishbone to have a power running game. In fact A&M's Spread style results in a lot more big plays because opponents cannot stack the line with 4 wideouts, often if the blocking is solid and the RB hits the hole hard it's a TD or a huge gain.

The key to winning in the SEC is and always has been defense though, not offense. The most important thing offensively is having a great OL that controls the LOS and A&M has that.

LSU beat A&M because they got Manziel to make a lot of mistakes. That's a tribute to their defense. Still, if Manziel can figure out how to clean those int's and bad reads (Manziel calls the offense based on the defensive formation on every play) A&M can score on anyone. The beauty of the Spread is at least one play is a big play if the QB can see it on every play. The key is recognizing it pre snap and in the event of a pass recognizing where the defense left an opening. The key is there is ALWAYS a mismatch.

The SEC hasn't had a lot of Spread teams so most SEC folks don't really understand how it has evolved. A&M's offense is very similar to Oregon. Sure we spread the field and pass a lot but we also have a serious power running game and often end up with huge rushing numbers. The pace is also something most SEC folks aren't used to. A&M's offense goes from breakneck speed almost as though the goal is to run as many plays as humanly possible to using up the entire clock and they go back and forth. This is by design to wear down defenses both physically and mentally. Against lesser teams it is so effective that even if it isn't run very smoothly it typically overwhelms them. Against great defenses though it requires great execution. That is the real test. A&M's execution improved from UF to LSU but will it improve enough against Bama? Probably not, but it is possible. by next season though when Manziel gets another full offseason to perfect it? Watch out.

Defense is the key though. If A&M can't stop Bama's O from controlling the clock and getting a big lead it won't matter. They have to contain Bama and hopefully even cause a few mistakes. A&M's run D is better than a lot of folks realize and the pass rush is legit, the real vulnerability is in that secondary if AJ can take advantage of it. I am betting he will and that will make the difference.

You guys just dont get it?
You can't control the clock and run Oregon's offense.
It wont work when there are better athletes on the other side of the ball. It works against slow defenses.
BTW - Oregon's GREAT O is 0-2 against SEC defenses. IF they make it to the MNC against Bama, they will be 0-3.
Ask yourself why.
There is not always a mismatch and they do NOT have elite athletes and neither does TAMU.

We'll try our way. You can stick with yours. You have to at least be a little nervous with what's happening in college station. Its a game of inches and you act like lsu never lost a game due to turnovers because they ground and pounds. There are a lot of ways to skin a cat.

This is correct. Unfortunately for you, it also negates the rest of your arguments.

Controlling the clock is irrelevant if you always score. The key is drive efficiency, not time of possession. We had less possession time in 4 of our 7 wins, and we won those 4 games 206-54

We put up more yards on LSU than anyone else has so far by a rather wide margin. The difference was missed kicks and turnovers -- both mistakes that have absolutely nothing to do with offensive style.

Recruiting is 90% of the game.

When? Geno Smith had 400 and lost by 20.
Agree. Recruiting is 90% of the game.
Les is very good at it.

LA has more athletes per capita in the NFL than any other state.

Secondly, on the LA ranks only second to California on NFL QBs to win SB. In fact they may be ahead as I have not checked in a while.
Trivia - the only Texas born QB to ever win a SB? He did it in La for a La owned team.

Sumlin will not change the offense. There is no pressure on us. Alabama has all the pressure. They are the No. 1 team in the country and they cannot lose Saturday i.e. even more pressure.

It will be interesting to watch the Alabama defense in the 3rd and 4th quarter. Hope those 300 pound guys are in good shape because they are going to be running from sideline to sideline.

That is when you will start seeing the alleged "cramps" when defense players fall to the ground in order to get a free time out.

As a side note, there will probably be another team in the SEC with they same type of offense...Auburn, Arkansas, Tennessee or Kentucky. One of them will hire Sonny Dykes and then there will be two of us.

Let's tee it up. We're the underdogs and not expected to win. But we will be there.

Sumlin's offense is statistically the SEC's best. It's also been designated the gold-standard by Saban.

It's working wonderfully. If will work even better once, I don't know, we're not brand-spanking new.
