Chances that Tennessee, Arkansas, or Auburn would make a play for one of these coaches? And if even if there is no chance, would any of you from these fanbases be excited about a Freeze or a Mullen being your next head coach. Not relative to what you have now but genuinely excited about either of them as hires?

Well Arky fans think they are getting Charlie Strong and Barners think they are getting Petrino.

I hope not. It would be funny to steal the Grind from State though on this board

I graduated from Ole Miss and attend every game but the bandwagon thing is cute coming from a couple of guys that have probably never sniffed the inside of a college classroom.

Back to the original question, am just curious

Both would be very underwhelming and I would hate to have to settle for such a caliber of coach when we can do much better.

Hugh Freeze is at his dream job, dude wouldnt leave. And I am not sure if Dan would leave for a job in the SECw. Very competitive salary, just got a new football facility built for him.

I think the schools listed would go for bigger names.

Curious Dale what coach can you pull in that's "much" better?

Yeah, meant more as a hypothetical. I don't think Freeze would actually leave. Well, I don't think he'd leave after one season. But then again, we had one coach who promised he'd only leave in a Pine Box so never say never.

I realize that Charlie Strong is the most prominent name amongst Hog fans. I'm most interested to see what direction Auburn goes. And how does a prospective coach feel about a team that fires a coach two years after a national title.

freeze is not anywhere on my radar, but if we hired him, i would get behind him. the man can coach. i don't care about the record, i know how to wach football and that team i saw today, was one of the best coached teams i've seen all year. they know how to tackle they know how to block they know how to cover. that is a very very good coach.

I'd take freeze before strong. way before.

I would honestly say our top 3 are

patterson
Butch Davis
Tubberville/Jones

I would want freeze before we went with jones. but i woudl want the other 3 before freeze.

we wont' get patterson but he's number 1 on our list.

I'd like to have Tubs back in SEC, I think he'd be a good fit for the Hogs. His stock definitely dropped today after that beatdown in Manhattan

Tubberville

I think this is a realistic possibility....I am sick of the Gruden/Patterson delusions
