Is it just me or are the LSU fans more low class than Texas tech fans?

I have thick skin so none of those fans bother me. I love drunken, brazen fans, and LSU fans are right up my alley.

Old school LSU made all other fans look like powder puffs. To show you how much things have changed:

When I was in school the only place you were actually told NOT to wear your uniform was LSU in BR. You were guaranteed to be assaulted and at best have your uniform debased by people throwing stuff on you. They preferred for Corps guys just to avoid the conflicts because they were a certainty.

At the same time I took the Student 12th Man bus up to Lubbock in '91 with a bunch of Corps guys. We partied with the Tech students, many we knew from HS. We crushed them on the field but I never had a foul word directed my way or felt the least bit threatened. It was honestly the feeling of a couple of brothers fighting it out and we had a common enemy in Austin. Haven't been back but my parents did right up until the '01 game. They saw it get worse and worse until finding that goalpost launch into the stands about 15 feet away from them and had some 18 year old try to start a fight with my 70+ year old Dad. Though he is a West Texan born and raised with all our family there he won't go back.

Went to the Texas game in '92 (Sr Year) with my gf (now wife) in my boots. Even though we were walking in quietly with her on my arm we were verbally assaulted at least 4 times with 2 of them coming close to being physical (right up in our faces). Just missed getting beer spilled on us from a guy who drove by. Even though we now live in Austin I have never gotten my wife back on the Texas campus after that day though in my opinion the real nastiness of the fans in Austin is far less than it was back then. Went to the last game there with my Dad and sat in the sip section and it was quite pleasant, nothing worse than a few disapproving glances which honestly I would expect a sip to get if they sat on the 40 in the West Deck at Kyle.

Fan bases evolve over time. At first I was hesitant to want to go to BR next year but now I am thinking it might be ok. I'm not expecting it to be friendly but I don't think it will be frightening.

LSU fans are obnoxious, but they're not violent. They're some of the best smack talkers you'll ever run across, but for the most part, they know it's just a game. I do imagine that after this game, though, the hatred between these two fan bases is going to pick up nicely. It's already getting momentum, but it should pick on up. I could imagine a few brawls at NG tomorrow.

I used to love talking smack with them back when I was in undergrad at UL Lafayette. The SunBelt is just a feeder conference for the SEC (don't tell ULM that), so we knew we were going to lose, but it was always fun. Really tempted to wear a Cajuns hat with my Aggie shirt tailgating tomorrow.
