And dramatically increasing welfare at that?
LINK
Do your programs not bring in enough money as it is? Do fans of those schools support welfare in any other situation in life?

Why didn't you say "why is every AD in America other than LSU and Nebraska on state welfare?"

Those 3 have had their welfare dramatically increased

Bama collects student fees in exchange for dirt cheap football and basketball tickets. I would hardly call that welfare. Athletics gives back millions to the university.
This flame fails badly.

Did you actually look at the statistics?
For the 2009-2010 year, Auburn athletics received $0 direct support from the institution or state and only 5.6% funding from student fees. Those student fees mean almost all of the athletic events (except for basketball and football) are free and those events are discounted substantially.
Alabama athletics receives 0% from student fees and only 3.8% from the institution and/or state. But they definitely pay that back by being one of the most profitable departments in the nation.

All government employees are on welfare in the strictest sense I suppose....but a state employee paid by the state is the norm, no?

Can you comprehend the importance of how much revenue (and tax money) having Auburn and Alabama in a relatively small state is?

So you don't think this is a form of welfare?

Funny how a deep red state like Alabama turns the other cheek when the welfare is directed at the athletic department

The Big Ten was second among major BCS conferences with a profit of $83.33 million and was led by Penn State’s $31.62 million

Not surprising that you would attack the poster once cognitive dissonance takes hold.

Damn this is getting more and more pathetic every post you make. We pay student fees in exchange for 5 dollar football tickets, rec center passes and free seats to every other sport. And we do it gladly. Welfare is something everyone pays but only a few receive. A student fee is paid by every student and the benefits are available to every student. Damn son.
