Kansas City Star's spring wrap up and projected finish by SEC teams for 2012

The SEC has won six straight BCS national championship games, but nobody in the event’s 14-year history has won consecutive titles. Alabama won’t because the Tide replaces seven defensive starters, three of whom were selected in the first round of the NFL Draft on Thursday. After the 2009 title, Alabama lost nine defensive starters. The Tide will be dominant again, a preseason top five. But odds are against a repeat title.

Projected order of finish
SEC EAST

1. Georgia

2. South Carolina

3. Florida

4. Missouri

5. Tennessee

6. Vanderbilt

7. Kentucky

SEC WEST

1. LSU

2. Alabama

3. Arkansas

4. Auburn

5. Mississippi State

6. Texas A&M

7. Mississippi

Florida is ranked too high in the East sadly.

Don't lose to a woeful ISU and be glad you didn't get that shot.

With about three months to hammer out the details, college football is poised for change and new controversies, although not as many, in 2014.

The SEC east division will be up for grabs between Mizzou, Georgia and South Carolina. If Mizzou beats Georgia at home in their SEC opener, I believe they'll have a great chance to win that division. M-I-Z!!!

I say we lose the geographic divisions of East and West and adapt a Big 10 format. Follow me here...

Two divisions: "Heroes" and "Winners"

They were talking about how the 09 team lost 9 defensive starters. If that is wrong too, then they were just wrong all away around.

Look about right to me, except I would probably put A&M ahead of MSU. Gotta beat someone other than Ole Miss in the west before I can give them more credit

Well, you can't expect a Big 12 newspaper to get facts straight about a SEC school.

Why is this fact relevant to how Alabama will do this year? The 2010 and 2012 teams have little in common.

Alabama
Auburn
Florida
LSU
Tennessee
Georgia
South Carolina

Losers:
Arkansas
Vandy
Kentucky
OM
Miss State
Mizzou
Texas A&M

I think Bama will take a step back on D but this just means top 10 nationally. I think their O may be a good deal better if AJ maintains/improves on his bowl game performance. LSU's D may be just as good as last year and I'm hoping O makes a big jump with Zach/Odell/Jarvis/Russell. 11/3/12 could be a classic...but you can never tell how a team jells.
