Word is they are crafting a beer for each SEC school as a toast to the new conference partners.

Republic Brewing Company. They are brand new owned by a couple of early 30s Aggies. They have free beer for patrons of Fat Burger on Wellborn Rd. from 6-8 PM each week.

You're not shite until you have frozen chicken named after your school.

Its Fat Burger, not Burger Boy, but you get it. I made a mistake on the burger joint.

Is there any difference at all between the Auburn and Alabama chicken other than the wrapper?

Random question, but would they have to get the school's permission to use their team/logo on their beer?

Yes, they do, but if its not granted there will be an offshoot label (as I understand it) that will acknowledge the school without the logo.

I'm going to have to look up this microbrew next time I'm in town. I was always surprised more of these didn't spring up in CS

WE just did it in our homes Shane...

They are only distributing two beers right now. A Dunkel and an Amber.

LSU was going to brew its own beer but was shot down by Collegiate Licensing which deemed it a violation against their licensing rules for the University which includes beverages.

It might be something similar to when Coke bottles honored past LSU national title teams for both baseball and football - that is okay

Interesting... I don't see why you couldn't charge a licensing fee of x%

Is that even allowed? It seems like there would be some sort of law out protecting schools/organizations/etc from having unsolicited products sold at a profit that could potentially be viewed in a negative light, such as alcohol. I mean even if they don't directly use the copyrighted logos and stuff, wouldn't an "Arkansas Razorback" beer with some modified picture of a hog on it essentially associate the Razorback program to a beer as effectively as if they used our official symbol?

Based on the way I understand it, I don't think it would even go that far. Maybe just a "Hog Ale" or something like that.

These won't be widely distributed either. Just a one time deal.
