Tennessee rising junior wide receiver Da'Rick Rogers is expected to miss all of spring practice after he undergoes surgery on his right middle finger on January 6th. Rogers tore a ligament in the finger in a game at Alabama in October.

Rogers opted to play through the injury and led the SEC in both catches and yards in 2011.

Fellow receiver Justin Hunter will also sit out the spring as he recovers from a torn ACL suffered in September.

Both are expected to be ready for the open of fall camp in August and the season opener vs. NC State on September 1st.

Good news keeps on coming.

I feel really bad for Tennessee. You guys can't seem to catch a break anymore at all. Hopefully better luck starts coming your way

As long as he's healthy for the start of the season. With all summer and 7 on 7's he'll be up on scheme and timing.

If the rumors about your QB are right, who would throw to them?

Message boards lighting up today that his numerous substance abuse and academic issues will come to light in the coming days. Mostly weed has been talked about, but there are rumors of pill pushing. Academically he is struggling as well. It would be a surprise if he made it to the opener imo.

Any team sits out players ONLY if they are hurt, etc. No team will EVER say "nah....it is just Spring Practice. Why don't you just skip this. It is not important"

I never said it is insurmountable if a good player misses. Only that it IS less than ideal and there IS a price paid.
