It is only an issue because it involves Alabama, and Auburn. If the games that were the "traditional Rivalries" were LSU vs Florida and Ky vs Ole Miss, the SEC office would have announced the schedules two days after admitting Mizzou with this statement;

"We are sorry that some traditional rivalries were disrupted by this but this is our new 14 team SEC schedules"

This is pretty easy.

Alabama built the SEC. Auburn has had as much success against the father of the SEC than any other school.

Duh.

Nebraska and OU built the Big 12 at one point. They understood change, however when the conference expanded initially.

Anyone know why it wouldn't work to let UA/UT and AU/UGA continue their games and let everyone else rotate? I'm not enough of a mathematician to figure out all the permutations.

I hate rivalries.

People just need to realize the entire SEC is one big rivalry and stop with all this bs.

More proof that LSU has no idea how rivalries feel or work.

Aubbies gets the blame because Bama, Tn, UGA and AU have said that any schedule must include the Bam/Tn UGA/AU game.

Why did the SEC change uni rules so Lsu could wear white during home games? Screw that stupid tradition too while we're at it.

It is all about TV dollars. Rivalry games help ratings. Using Nebraska as an example seems strange since they helped ruin the big12
