A non-LSU vs. Bama question about "Gumps"...

I've seen enough threads about how "Corndog" was originally meant for Nebraska.

And truthfully -- derogatory nicknames directed to opposing fanbases is pretty much part of the fun in being a fan. So, the whole idea of me being called a 'corndog', or that I 'smell like a corndog' pretty much just tells me that you respect me as a fan (if not a good Rant Poster)... even if you don't like the team I support.

But, prior to 1994, what did the SEC teams call the Bama fans? Certainly, 'Gump' was the perfect nickname to call a Bama fan once 'Forrest Gump' came out.

But what did we call y'alls country-asses prior to 1994?

And, while we're on this topic, what will the rest of the SEC call aTm and mizzou fans? (I mean, I know we could just go with 'Brain washed nut punchers' for aTM, but that's a little long-winded, amirite? - kind of like this post?)

Will mizzou fans be known as 'Tokens' -- as in, the Token fan base which provide the SEC expanded TV households?

Sorry for so long (yeah, tl;dr). And, I did search -- but, seriously, the word "Gump" is in zillions of threads -- no way I could find this subject.

I think these derogatory nicknames can trace their beginnings to people hiding behind computer screens. I honestly can't remember referring to an Auburn fan as a boog or barner, prior to becoming a message board user.

...yeah, that makes sense. I've been an LSU fan a hell of a lot longer than 1994.

aTm has been knowns as the faggies since the SWC days, they carried it with them to the big12.

Mizzou has been to irrelevant to have a derogatory nickname. It would be like talking smack to a vandy fan, pointless.

I don't find "corndog," funny when referring to LSU fans. It just doesn't make any damn since. The first time I heard it I asked why? No one could really give me a good explanation? Maybe people find it funny because it is ironic?

Let's see that was before UT made their 7 in a row. That was before Auburn won 6 in a row. Before Spurrier's run of dominance and before Nick Saban came to LSU.

I'm guessing y'all just referred to us as "Daddy".

Thanks Mike's (Dubose, Price, Shula)

I remember LSU fans referring to ATM as faggies, but I have no idea how to insult Missouri fans.

How is a barner or a corndog really that big of a deal. Even a gump, which implies stupid, is kinda funny in itself. Forrest was funnier than he was retarded.

I have always wondered what the derivation for the name "coonasses" was...

What's not to like about Forrest? He's determined, loyal, has integrity, is honest, was awarded the Medal of Honor for bravery, played football at Bama, beat the shite out of a hippy, and got the girl in the end. Personally I don't mind being called a Gump at all.
