I thought CBS had the first pick of games for the SEC at the 2:30 time slot, and then the next choice went to ESPN. But SC is playing Auburn at 2:30 and Bama is playing UF at 8 on CBS.

Can anyone clarify this for me? TIA.

It is called a "double-header".

CBS does this once a year and broadcasts what is called a "night game" which they have first pick of for the weekend. Their 2:30 spot is filled by another match up that they select.

I think once a year CBS gets a doubleheader where they get first two choices, but I could be wrong.

Yup, doubleheader.

CBS did it last year with LSU-Tennessee and then Bama-Florida at night.

Appreciate it. That explains a lot.

CBS has 2 doubleheaders a year. The next one will be a 12pm and 330pm kickoff.

So which one of these slots fills the "night game" requirement?

One more wrinkle, when CBS does the double header with the primetime game, no other SEC game can kick off after 11:30 in the morning. It's in the contract to keep the exclusive SEC windows on CBS for those 2 games...

douche. Pardon me for not understanding the network television schedules. There are a few other things I'd rather pay attention to. Just thought this was a good place to come for info on a subject I wasn't familiar with. God forbid.

That one will likely be Tennessee-Arkansas (Noon; 4th pick) and South Carolina-Florida (3:30; First pick)
