I knew it would be ugly that day so I found a Tuscaloosa tv station online and had it on in the background. Their tower cam was pointing at it on the horizon and it came right at them. Scary stuff.

Wow...rewatching this brings back that whole day. I remember watching all the live streaming the chasers had on the site. I remember watching live footage of the tower cam in Tuscaloosa. And then getting to witness it the very next day was intense.

I remember that day. We had to get in the hall at school in Jackson and put our heads down like we were in grade school again because of tornadoes. Turns out, we were very lucky. I don't care what people think about it, weather is one thing that scares the shite out of me. You can't control it and it doesn't discriminate...

I chased the Tuscaloosa storm. Ended up photographing the thing passing through the city from the Tuscaloosa Transit Authority downtown.

Speaking of tornadoes, Cleveland, MS was hit by a tornado tonight. Bunch of friends on Facebook are saying that there is damage around the town but looks to be that nobody got hurt.

Joplin Tornado was much bigger and wider than the Tuscaloosa tornado.

I think once you get up to the EF-4 level like the T-town and Joplin ones were...it is all academic.

Scariest day of my life. The whole city was in complete chaos. It was like something you'd see in a movie. I'll neve forget it.

I've probably seen the video you were talking about. Was it one where It showed the Tornado first form and just get big from there?

Jeff Piotrowski got it when It was at it's biggest. That's also on Youtube.

The Tuscaloosa tornado was no joke. It leveled SO many houses and businesses. Parts of the city don't exist anymore.

Oh, I know man. All the Tornado's were bad that day.

I'll never forget watching that thing on the Tuscaloosa tower cam tear through the town.

With that said, The Joplin tornado was probably even worse in ways. The storm, really was not the impressive on radar, and probably caught people off guard. Nothing like the Tuscaloosa storm, and no sirens went off until it was too late. It's very unusual to see such a big tornado form off such an unimpressive storm. It was rain-wrapped for the majority of the time from the view it was coming in. I remember hearing a Tornado had hit Joplin, and based off the radar I was thinking a weak Tornado, but the weather channel was there live, and holy cow. Every thing was destroyed as far as the eye can see, and it caught people off guard and it killed 150+ because of it.
